The guards' indifference made anger brew within her to the extent she gripped one of the guards by the throat. No one in the room expected that, not even Leila.
Her grip on the guard's neck was firm and tight. The guard's face was rapidly changing colour as he struggled with pulling her hand away.
The guard at the side jolted forward, but he froze after a step. The other guards around tried to move forward and rescue their colleague, but Leila snapped her head towards them, and they also froze on seeing her eyes.
They were shocked but also scared. Leila's eyes were different. They were black, completely black. That was not normal for the human that she was. Or was she not? Other hypotheses came, but before they could contemplate if it were true or not, her grip loosened on the guard's neck, followed by her eyes going back to normal.
