Chapter 7 - Such a tragedy

In the post-apocalyptic, where the forces of darkness and destruction reign supreme, there lies a small town named Havag nestled in the heart of a mountain range. This town, unlike any other, is surrounded by towering peaks on all sides, providing a natural barrier against the terrors that roam the wastelands beyond.

The town has a strange shimmering veil that seems to envelop it, as if the town is trying to hide itself from prying eyes. The veil is said to be a magical barrier, woven by the town's skilled mages, to keep the demons and other monsters at bay.

Despite the threat of danger that looms outside, the town itself is a peaceful and idyllic place, with a small population of hardy and resourceful individuals. The streets are lined with quaint shops and homes made of wood and stone, with the occasional guard tower looming overhead.

Xylon had always wanted to leave this place, he wanted to go to the world beyond the veil that surrounded his small town. The mountains that towered above the town, the shimmering barrier that protected it from the monsters and demons that roamed the wastelands beyond - all of it had always left him with a sense of wonder and curiosity.

But he knew, as did all the other residents of the town, that leaving was not an option. Only a select few were allowed to venture beyond the veil, and Xylon was not one of them.

It was a fact that had always weighed on him, and it was something that he had come to accept.

But instead, Eva spoke to him in a tone that was both firm and pleading the day of her release from the orphanage .

"Just make sure to learn healing magic, Xylon. Make yourself useful in that field. I'm sure you'll get a good job after Destiny Day."

"I don't want to heal people," Xylon replied, his voice laced with frustration.

"You lack powers, Xylon. You have to be powerful in something," Eva explained, her voice growing more urgent.

Xylon, however, wasn't interested in hearing what she had to say. He removed her hand from his shoulder and spoke bluntly.

"I'm going outside after the release. Living behind the veil and walls of this small town is ridiculous."

"You can't do that," Eva protested, her voice rising in alarm. "It's too dangerous, and with your powers, you'll never be allowed to leave."

At that moment, Xylon turned away from her, his eyes narrowing as he looked out beyond the veil.

"And in addition to that," he said, his voice heavy with emotion. "I don't want to ever see you when I go outside."

Xylon had been only thirteen when he last saw Eva, and the memory of that day still lingered in his mind. He couldn't help but wonder what had become of her after her destiny day , if she had made it to go beyond the veil or if she had been swallowed up by the dangers of the outside world.

He had never expected her to reach out to him, but her words had stayed with him, and he had thought of her often in the years that followed.

Now, five years later, he stood on the brink of his own destiny day, the day that would determine the course of his life. He had spent the last few days preparing for the exam, honing his skills in healing magic and studying the ancient tomes that held the secrets of the lost world.

He knew that this was his chance to get a way out of this place, to be capable of leavign Havag was only the first step for his revenge and he wanted it to happen very fast.

As he made his way to the abandoned building where he and a few other teens were waiting for the exam to begin, he felt a sense of calm settle over him. It was his first time outside the orphanage walls, but he was composed and focused, unlike some of the other teens who were acting jittery and confused.

The orphanage was a small world, and the only time they were allowed to venture beyond its confines was when they studied magic in school or when they helped the caregivers with their duties.

But Xylon had always been restless, always yearning for something more. He had spent countless hours poring over the ancient texts.

The human magic was diffrent from the demonic magic .

And now, he was finally going to have a chance to go outside, to change his own fate that his father did to him.

As he waited for the exam to begin, Xylon was more calm. He had no idea what lay ahead, but he was ready for whatever the future had in store for him. .

The destiny day was a pivotal moment for every orphan in Havag town . It was a day when every child who had reached the age of eighteen had to pass an exam that would determine their fate for the rest of their lives.

The exam was a grueling test of knowledge and skill, designed to measure each orphan's aptitude for a particular trade or profession.

For Xylon, destiny day was both a daunting challenge and an opportunity to leave it . He had never been particularly gifted in any particular field of magic, but he had a natural talent for healing. It wasn't the most glamorous or exciting , but he knew that it was a vital one, especially in a world where demons and other dangers lurked beyond the veil.

As he sat in the abandoned building, waiting for the exam to begin, Xylon kept lookign at his suroundings. He knew that the exam would be difficult  in this body, and that the stakes were high.

If he failed, he would be relegated to a life of menial labor, with little hope of ever achieving his dreams.

The words echoed through the chamber, spoken with a voice that dripped with disdain and arrogance.

"Me, the almighty Zephyr, get tested by mere humans," he spat, his voice laced with bitterness. "Such a tragedy."
