Chapter 162 - Absence of magic

Eva found herself confined to Charles Ko's place for three long days, during which she had no choice but to endure Josie's harsh words and criticisms. 

Josie seemed determined to make Eva feel like an outsider and constantly reminded her of her perceived flaws and differences.

 Each word from Josie's mouth felt like a dagger, piercing Eva's already fragile self-esteem.

Josie's anger grew even more palpable when Andrew, the same guy who had initially caused Eva distress, offered to take her on a walk to explore the town. 

Eva sensed the tension between Josie and Andrew and understood that it stemmed from a mix of jealousy and territoriality.

Reluctant to exacerbate the strained relationship with Josie, Eva politely declined Andrew's offer, stating that she preferred to rest and explore the town on her own when she felt more settled.
