As Xylon emerged victorious from his battle with the deadly basilisk, his heart raced with adrenaline-fueled excitement.
However, he knew that his victory was only a small step towards achieving his ultimate goal.
Time was of the essence, and he couldn't afford to waste a single second with Santhylar.
Although Xylon had never interacted with Santhylar before.
When Xylon was left out , Santhylar had been nowhere to be found.
Therefore, Xylon was determined to reciprocate the same indifference towards Santhylar.
Despite his eagerness to move on, Xylon recognized that Santhylar possessed a level of intellect that could prove valuable in their quest to pass the maze.
It was for this reason that Xylon reluctantly kept him close, knowing that Santhylar may have a suggestion that could help him succeed.
As Xylon sprinted through the maze with blistering speed , Xylon's eyes were fixated on the digital display, his frustration mounting with each passing moment
`` I have to do it …I have to do something about it or I am going to be failing the exam too``
He wanted to make it out of the maze as quickly as possible and had no intention of getting sidetracked by the commotion caused by the other team fighting against the dark creature.
" I may have lost in the past tests but not this one " He muttered.
Despite the deafening sounds of battle, Xylon remained focused on his goal, knowing that every second counted.
"Ah….time is running away" He sighed.
He avoided the other teams as best he could, not wanting to risk getting caught up in their fight and losing valuable time.
With every step he took, Xylon could feel the weight of his mission bearing down on him.
He knew the locations of the fights, but avoided them at all costs, knowing that his success depended on him making it out of the maze as quickly as possible.
"This is the best plan so far …to avoid countless battles and find the exit as soon as possible " He thought..
As he continued to press forward, Xylon could feel his determination growing stronger. He refused to give up, even as the countdown loomed over him like a menacing cloud.
He knew that he had to put in more effort if he wanted to succeed.
Suddenly, he heard noises that were much closer than before. He listened intently and heard a team of highly skilled candidates battling their way through the maze.
Xylon knew that he had to join them if he wanted to have a chance at making it out alive.
As he started to follow the team from a far, Xylon felt a sense of relief wash over him. These were the best candidates in the exam, and he knew that if he sticks with them , he might have a chance to win.
As they reached the exit of the maze, Xylon felt a wave of excitement wash over him.
" I knew it …I knew I could do it …I knew I could surpass the test " He said once he made sure that all the others were gone .
However, his excitement was short-lived as the door to the exit closed abruptly in his face.
Panic set in as he tried to break down the walls with spells, but to no avail.
"What happened here , the fucking door was right here …it was right here " he said very pissed .
Xylon couldn't believe what was happening. He had come so far, only to be trapped at the final hurdle.
The countdown reached zero and the walls and creatures of the maze disappeared, signaling the end of the exam.
At that moment, Xylon realized that he had failed. Despite his best efforts, he had not been able to overcome the final obstacle.
As the maze vanished before their eyes, Teacher John appeared in the center of the clearing, a smile on his face as he surveyed the scene.
Xylon looked around, taking stock of the candidates who had succeeded in making it out of the maze.
These were the candidates who had managed to work together, despite the intense pressure of the exam.
Xylon knew that he had missed out on a key aspect of the exam - teamwork.
Teacher John's words rang in his ears as he watched the successful candidates congratulating one another.
Xylon lloked very cold as Teacher John approached him. The older man's words were biting and direct, leaving no room for interpretation.
"We saw every move you made inside," Teacher John said, his tone stern and unforgiving. "The fact that you chose to follow people like a parasite is making me sick."
Xylon didn't know that this was the case, he didn't know that they were watching their movements inside the maze. He knew that he had made a mistake by not seeing this coming, and now he was facing the consequences.
He had thought that he could make it through the exam alone, but he had been proven wrong.
As he looked into Teacher John's eyes, Xylon could see the disappointment and frustration written there.
"if you saw what happened there then you know , right ," Xylon said calmly, his voice barely above a whisper. "I killed that shitty basilisk."
Teacher John's expression softened slightly at the words, but there was still a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
"There is no way back, Xylon…you already got what you deserve, that doesn't change anything " John said mysteriously .
Xylon took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves as he gathered with the other candidates.
Teacher John stood before them, a grave expression on his face.
"Gather up," he said, his voice carrying over the quiet murmurs of the candidates. "The results will be announced now."
