Chapter 106 - The prosthetic leg

As Xylon gazed at Eva's face, his stoic expression gave little away to the emotions swirling within him.

  Meanwhile, Eva's face displayed a mixture of anger and frustration, her own emotions threatening to overwhelm her.

Sitting beside her, Xylon lay there, his body tense with the unrelenting pain that seemed to linger incessantly. 

Though her words had struck a chord within him, he chose not to respond directly.

Xylon reached out and gently took hold of Eva's hand, intertwining their fingers. 

"I am tired, Eva," he finally admitted, his voice tinged with exhaustion. "I just want to sleep."

As Xylon's words hung in the air, Eva sensed the underlying intention behind them. She recognized his attempt to distance himself.

Despite the hurt that lingered in her heart, she understood that engaging in an argument would only deepen the divide between them.
