Rego sprinted through the opening forest, almost tearing it open with his hands to go faster. He didn't know why Micah had urged him to do this at once instead of buying more time for Pride when that had been their plan all along. But he knew Micah trusted him to complete his task. And he was going to do just that, no matter what it took.
Rego's resolve held up as he ran all the way until he caught sight of Pride's muscles bulging through his shirt as he swung a wooden pickaxe, harder than steel, into the ground repeatedly.
He had already seen the large rectangular underground space, more than large enough to fit the mansion of Pride's Mansion, and the string of ballon-like plants giving off a bright yellow light lining the ceiling. So, he wasn't awed by it, even if it was impressive what all the workers had achieved in such a short time.
