Gunnel was gaining on Micah. He had missed catching up to Micah and intercepting him, and he was still too far away to use the master token if there existed such a thing. But he was still getting closer, and Micah couldn't afford to relax, especially now that he had fully realized how hopeless it would be to try and fight Gunnel using the pol he got from Hakkel.
Before he absorbed it and when he had just done it, while the surge of power rushed through his body, Micah felt like it might not be impossible to hold off at least one of them at a time, even if they used their ability.
But he had vastly underestimated the boost in strength that the Crimson Surge Demons received from their characteristic ability.
Hekkal had only flinched when Micah went all out on his head with a heavy wrench of solid iron when he had his ability active. And Micah had no reason to think that the big bad Captain of the Hungry Hogs wouldn't be stronger than his Vice-Captains.
