"Your man is quite impressive."
"Thank you for the compliment."
Rego accepted Pride's compliment, even if he was a little surprised. Based on Pride's attitude, Rego would have expected him to watch them like a statue.
"Rego, right?"
"Yes, that's right."
Rego was even more surprised at Pride striking up a conversation with a noticeably gentler tone than the one he had when ordering the workers to dig.
"If you wish to discuss details regarding work and payment, we can do so inside at once."
Rego was even more surprised since he had half expected Micah to be the one to settle that part and that he would just oversee the workers. He was also surprised by Pride's initiative, but he didn't let it show on his face. What he had said about not besmirching Wither's and Micah's names was even more true for him than it was for the workers.
