Ystris slumped on the ground with empty, despairing eyes as Micah's words echoed inside his skull. Tears of miserable self-realization beaded in the corners of Ystris' eyes before slowly making their way down his pale face.
"But then again, I guess it's better to hesitate compared to instantly going and ending a life that doesn't even belong to you, right?"
Micah's words were barely audible through the cacophony inside Ystris' mind. But he still managed to make out the meaning behind them. It was a good thing that Ystris hadn't thrown away his life in a pitiful attempt at redemption. He didn't have the right to do that, to begin with, since a person as self-proclaimed loyal as him wouldn't do anything that would go against their master's orders.
Yet, it was only something Ystris could realize after Micah's words pierced his soul and tore open the veil clouding his worldview.
"I-I don't…– I- What do I–?"
