Mich went down to the main office to change the documents. The ones he had read but not given to his three executives were exchanged for the ones that the clerks had now created copies of.
Two of the clerks got to work on copying the uncopied documents, and the other two were busy organizing and archiving the loan receipts. Since a lot of people had happily asked for loans, there was a lot of paperwork to keep track of so that Wither didn't lose any clients or sources of money.
Since there were so many, losing track of one or two debtors wouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things. But it was a matter of reputation. If Wither were known to lose track of their papers, clients, and documents, it would be easy to disrespect and disregard Wither, which could make future business endeavors more difficult than they need to be.
It was also a matter of pride. Micah couldn't tolerate substandard work.
