Micah stepped back while raising his wrench to meet Stumps' fist. He held the wrench at the two ends, and Stumps hit the middle of the wrench with a worrisome cracking sound.
Micah used as much strength as he could to push back against Stumps' hand and use the recoil to put some distance between himself and the mindlessly rampaging demon. But his eyes were locked on Stumps' crooked and bleeding fingers.
He didn't know what had happened, but based on the chain of events, Stumps had been about to say something that he shouldn't and, if Micah had to guess, some kind of ability robbed him of his sanity and put him in a state of frenzy. Caught up in the frenzied madness, Stumps' body was forcing itself beyond its limits in a suicidal attack.
