Rego's valiant and fearless attitude in front of a foe with overbearing strength, such as the Rider he faced, inspired admiration among those who saw. However, if having a good attitude was good enough as a solution, many problems wouldn't be so problematic.
So, when Rego inevitably suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Rider, no one was surprised, at least not about the defeat itself. It was, however, slightly surprising that Rego had held out for as long as he did when he was already on the verge of death.
It didn't take many hits for Rego to turn into a slab of bloody meat that couldn't defend itself. But even after his body was beyond repair, he still struggled to stand up each time he got knocked down.
It was clear that he was barely conscious and forced his body to move using nothing but seemingly endless willpower. He used broken arms to prop himself up to stand on broken legs.
