The white and yellow stripes from the original decor and the coffee cups and cake pictures Micah had set up melted into the wall, leaving only a blank, colorless slate. Then, without a break, color reappeared on the walls.
It began at the bottom, close to the floor.
Verdant green spread along the walls like some had drawn a line of ink around the house. The green seeped upward while also manifesting an illusion that made it look like it was disappearing into the distance, where it met with the light blue cascading down from the ceiling.
In some places, the rain of blue separated and spread apart, leaving white clouds that spread out across the wide skies depicted in the mural.
And then, after the blue skies and green grass met and, the clouds had drifted into place, beams of yellow sunlight streaked across and gave life to the painting. The clouds cast shadows, and the grass looked like it danced in the wind.
