Chapter 49 - New friendship(mass release event ch-03)

Ezekiel's words echoed in the room, his voice filled with desperation and defiance. He couldn't bear the thought of leaving Nathan behind, even with the promise of a safer environment.

The bond between them was unbreakable, and Ezekiel couldn't fathom the idea of separation.

Xylia's expression softened as she regarded Ezekiel, her eyes reflecting a mix of understanding and sympathy.

She knew the depth of his love for his brother and the fear that consumed him. She took a step closer, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Ezekiel, I understand your concern," Xylia began, her voice gentle yet determined.

"But please, hear me out. We can't ignore the risks and dangers your parents pose to both you and Nathan. Staying together might expose him to even more harm."

Ezekiel's grip on Nathan tightened, his protective instincts surging within him. He gazed into Xylia's eyes, searching for any sign of wavering or doubt.

"I won't deny the danger we face, but I won't abandon my brother either," Ezekiel replied, his voice filled with unwavering resolve.

"We've been through too much to let anyone tear us apart. If we stay together, I can protect him. I won't let anything happen to him."

Xylia sighed, her expression a mix of empathy and frustration. She knew Ezekiel's determination stemmed from a place of love and loyalty, but she also understood the precariousness of their situation.

Finding a balance between their safety and keeping them together seemed like an insurmountable challenge.

"Ezekiel, I can't guarantee absolute safety," Xylia said, her voice tinged with regret.

"But here, within the confines of our organization, we have resources and measures in place to keep him as protected as possible. We can provide him with the care and support he needs while we work to dismantle your parents' influence."

Ezekiel's mind raced with conflicting emotions. The desire to shield Nathan clashed with the harsh reality of the outside world and the constant threat they faced. He knew deep down that Xylia's words held weight, but it was difficult to overcome his fears and relinquish control.

Silence hung heavily in the room as Ezekiel wrestled with his decision.

At that moment a child got closer to them,

Ezekiel looked down to see a young boy, no older than five, clutching onto his leg with wide eyes. His heart softened at the sight of the innocent curiosity radiating from the child's face.

He crouched down to meet the boy at eye level, a gentle smile forming on his lips.

"Hey there," Ezekiel replied, his voice warm and kind. "What's your name?"

The child hesitated for a moment, then shyly responded, "I'm Daniel."

Ezekiel's smile widened as he extended a hand towards Daniel. "Nice to meet you, Daniel. I'm Ezekiel."

Daniel's eyes brightened as he looked at Nathan, who was still clinging to Ezekie,, his gaze filled with curiosity. Ezekiel gently put him on the ground and nudged Nathan forward, encouraging him to step out of his shell.

"And this is Nathan," Ezekiel introduced proudly, his voice filled with affection. "He's my little brother."

Daniel's face lit up with a wide smile, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He reached out a small hand towards Nathan, who cautiously reached back, their fingers touching for a brief moment. It was a simple gesture, but it held the promise of a new friendship.

"Hi, Nathan!" Daniel exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine warmth. "Do you want to play!"

Nathan's grip on Ezekiel's leg loosened as he took a small step closer to Daniel, his eyes still uncertain but intrigued.

Ezekiel watched as a flicker of trust began to grow within his brother, slowly eroding the walls that had been built by their tumultuous past.

Ezekiel knew that this moment marked the beginning of a new chapter for both of them.

As Ezekiel witnessed the exchange between Nathan and Daniel, he couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for Xylia's guidance.

She had shown him the potential of this place, not just as a means to protect his brother, but as a haven to heal his soul too from the damage that his parents caused.

Suddenly, Nathan looked at his brother.

Ezekiel met Nathan's gaze, understanding the unspoken request. He smiled warmly, giving his brother a reassuring nod.

"It's okay, Nathan," Ezekiel said, his voice filled with encouragement. "You can go play with Daniel and the other kids. I'll be right here, watching over you."

Nathan's eyes lit up with a mix of excitement and relief. He let go of Ezekiel's hand and tentatively stepped towards Daniel, a shy but eager smile spreading across his face.

Ezekiel watched as Nathan joined the group of children, his heart filled with a sense of pride and joy.

Ezekiel leaned against the wall, his gaze fixed on Xylia. There was a mix of emotions in his eyes—gratitude, guardedness, and a glimmer of something he couldn't quite put into words. He took a deep breath, his voice calm yet tinged with vulnerability.

"I didn't expect there would be a place like this for Nathan," he admitted, his voice laced with a hint of surprise.

Xylia met his gaze, her expression softening as she nodded. " I'm glad to see Nathan finding his place here, among children who understand him. This place offers them a chance at a better life."

Ezekiel paused for a moment, his thoughts gathering before he continued. "I still have my reservations, and I won't forget why we're here. But seeing Nathan smile, feeling that he's safe, it means more to me than I can express."

He looked at Xylia intently, his voice steady. "I won't let my guard down completely, but I can acknowledge that you've shown us a glimpse of something different, something worth fighting for. Nathan deserves to experience the love and happiness he's finding here."

Xylia's eyes softened with understanding as she listened to Ezekiel's words. She knew that trust would take time to build between them, but his willingness to recognize the positive impact on Nathan touched her deeply.

"Ezekiel, I understand your caution, and I respect it. We're all here for our own reasons, with our own burdens. But know that I'm here to support you and Nathan, to ensure his safety and well-being."

Ezekiel nodded, his expression reflecting a mixture of determination.

" Just remember, I won't hesitate to do whatever it takes to protect Nathan. my priority is still finding our parents and seeking justice."
