He removed his disguise, letting his true avatar emerge. He reached down, unlocking the door and then activated his Shadow Step skill. His form dissolved into a blur of darkness, and he reappeared moments later on the deserted rooftop of the tavern, overlooking the crowded city below.
For a moment, he simply stood there, letting the cool air wash over him. He let out a long exhale. "I never thought my simple trip to check the market would end like this," he murmured, half amused, half exhausted.
A faint smirk appeared on his lips. "I guess… having fun with them once in a while isn't so bad." He never talked this much with them, and it felt good to have a moment with people he usually saw as enemies.
With a flick of his fingers, a portal appeared behind him and he went into it.
