Chereads / I Can Make Everything Level Up II: Sigma / Chapter 55 - The true enemies

Chapter 55 - The true enemies

"We will fight together again, as usual. Sabrina and I will focus on attacking most of the enemies and focus on the demons," Sigma declared. "Ed will focus on defense and Eclair on healing him. Lucy can attack the demons when the chances come with all her might."

"And when will that be?" Lucy asked.

"You will see when the time comes," Sigma replied.

Lucy let out a long sigh… at least she knew that Sigma wouldn't try to mess with her by telling a lie and he actually had a plan, but he didn't reveal all of it since it might make the enemies realize that they have some traps lying and waiting for them.

After hiding the horses behind some trees a few hundred meters behind them, the group approached the ice skeletons' line of defense. Since there was a hole there, they managed to approach without being noticed for a while. Then Sigma began to attack several of them with continuous arrows.

The beasts began to fall one after the other, and in the meantime, the others were hiding nearby and waiting for the chance to join the battle. They did that when the ice skeletons found Sigma and began to attack him by getting close enough. Ed began to block the ice spears with his sword, but with each Strike, he felt his entire being trembling.

Sabrina fired multiple Fireballs at the busy enemies, and she easily hit them with attacks in their heads… It didn't take long for that group to be decimated, but the others didn't react for a while… until all of them turned in their direction as if they were machines, and then Sigma saw five humanoid creatures flying in the distance, but slowly toward them.

"Here they come…" Lucy said while clenching her teeth.

Sigma frowned while looking at them… they were a lot more humans than he had expected. While they had ominous-looking dark wings, they still looked like humans. Sigma didn't know what he was expecting, but he felt a bit disappointed…

Regardless, Sigma could see three men and two women among them. At least, that was his first impression while he grabbed one of his special arrows. They stopped approaching when they were three hundred meters away and just looked at them.

"What the hell is this?" A spiky-haired demon said while looking around and furrowing. "Only five stupid humans this time?"

The spiky-haired demon looked very disappointed for some reason. Sigma also shared his feelings since he thought that demons would be like five meters tall giants that could spite or something. He was starting to work on their description in his mind now.

"The woman called Lucy is with them… maybe she decided to come at us with quality instead of quantity," A long-haired female demon with a blank expression on her face said while keeping her eyes on the group. "She usually would charge at us while screaming, but she is a bit different now."

The demons sure looked calm while talking. It seemed that being attacked or finding enemies was like a slow Tuesday for them. Regardless, Sigma could hear them well while they were at that distance, and considering how pissed she was, it looked like Lucy could hear them as well.

"Whatever, you guys can return. I will deal with this myself. Just give me a couple of minutes to enjoy myself," The spiky-haired demon said. "Lucy is too rough for me, but those two other girls seem to like the type who would scream well… maybe I should torment them for a short bit."

While Eclair didn't hear his words, Sigma saw her trembling while feeling a shiver as well. She had some wild senses, and she didn't stop trembling since she could tell how one of the demons was looking at them.

"... I don't like this," The long-haired demon said. "They killed half of our forces without suffering a single scratch, it seems. There is more about them than it meets the eye. I will stay here and watch you fight. Hork, you should stay here as well, just in case."

A muscular bald demon nodded with his arms crossed, and in the meantime, the other two left the area. Sigma couldn't help but be glad at the stupidity of those guys. It was fine to be confident after fighting against hundreds of martial artists. Still, they couldn't acknowledge completely that things had changed in an unexpected way for them.

Sigma silently put away his special arrow while he summoned another that the enemy wouldn't notice while the spiky-haired demon was approaching. It seemed that he wasn't planning to use the ice skeletons, so that was another thing in their favor.

"Change of plans," Sigma declared. "Lucy, you will fight that guy directly, and I will cover for you.

Sigma decided to study the enemy fighting after he failed to see the information about the enemy. That was the first time that it had happened, but that didn't surprise him at all. At least he got something out of that… moreover, the enemy kept looking at him in annoyance.

"Hey, you… don't do anything unnecessary unless you want me to kill you first," the spiky-haired demon said when Lucy moved forward to face him.

Sigma had no idea if he was talking like that because he used Appraisal or because Sigma was ready to use his bow. It didn't matter in one way or the other since Sigma wasn't going to hear him, anyway.
