Chereads / I Can Make Everything Level Up II: Sigma / Chapter 3 - Learning new skills

Chapter 3 - Learning new skills

Sigma stepped out of the area of the cottage, and just like he had expected, three other wolves dashed from some bushes toward him. He could tell that he was one delicious piece of meat for them, but he wasn't willing to let them have a chunk of him that easily.

In two very fluid motions, he put two arrows in the eyes of two of the wolves, and when the third jumped to bite his neck, he jumped backward while leaning his body toward the same direction. He did all that while nocking another arrow. When the wolf turned to attack him, Sigma had his arrow pointed at the creature's head.

Sigma didn't drop his guard and kept his ears open while he recovered the arrows. They still were fine since the monsters and their flesh weren't that sturdy, but he could tell that another shot would be a limit for them.

"Still, this much is fine… I don't want arrows dirty with blood nearby to lure more of them," Sigma thought and then pulled one of the wolves toward the campfire.

Sigma began to skin the wolf, and he hoped that it would grant him a skill, but it didn't. Despite its age, the old knife did its job, and Sigma also was quite skilled at skinning the creature. In no time, he began to cook the chest of the wolf, and he was hoping that it wasn't poisonous or something.

[You learned the passive Cooking.]

[Cooking: improves the taste and effects of foods made by you by ten percent per level.]

"This certainly will be useful… in any case, it feels like I have some natural skills, but it doesn't seem like this power of mine recognized them before," Sigma thought while checking how well-cooked the meat was. "I wonder why…"

Despite his worries, Sigma didn't hesitate to eat the meat that he had just cooked. He didn't know when he would have the chance to stop and to eat again since that forest looked pretty big, so he made sure to fill his belly and then some.

"It looks like I have some skills with bow and arrow, so I should increase my dexterity and speed," Sigma thought while checking his parameters and using the mana he had just recovered.

"It looks like SP is like stamina and recovers one point per second, and using the skills also makes them level up. That is why Exp/Mana reached level two already," Sigma thought once he closed the screen. "That skill only makes me use mana faster while conversing to experience… I wonder if it will have other uses."

Once he filled his belly, Sigma looked around the area for more wolves, but he didn't find them, so he looked for more sticks to make arrows. It would be better if he made a lot and also made Craft level up in order to save time in the future, but he didn't want to camp in the forest at night, so he had to make some while he walks.

After he crafted three more, Sigma decided to move while adjusting the bag in his waist to work like a quiver so that he could pick arrows fast enough. Responding to the enemy's attacks will have to be done fast, even more so if the enemies come in groups.

"I need to find a way to use all this extra stamina…" Sigma thought and then had an idea.

[You learned the skill Dash.]

[Dash: improves your running speed by five percent per level at the cost of one stamina point per second up to level ten.]

Sigma confirmed what he thought and learned Dash. It was hard to imagine that he could outspeed wolves, but it was better than nothing.

Once his preparations were over, Sigma began to cross the forest while he was carving another arrow. At first, he thought that the smell of smoke would have drawn the attention of more wolves, but they should live in different territories since food must be pretty scarce in the forest.

In the end, he had to walk for a while before he heard the sound of a bush moving, and then he saw a wolf charging at him. Sigma kept his senses sharp and confirmed that the target was alone, so he waited until the creature jumped to bite his neck to fire the arrow.

The arrow pierced the right eye of the beast, and he approached to recover it. The smell didn't bother him that much, and what bothered him were the problems that it could bring. Still, for now, they didn't show up…

"I should keep one of the used arrows in hand to use it while I carve new ones," Sigma thought while looking around and noticing that the forest was really silent, and he couldn't hear the sound of even insects. "This place is really quiet… maybe it is a hunting spot for someone else."

It was hard to imagine the wolves eating insects. In any case, Sigma noticed that he was making the arrows faster than before. His dexterity was helping, but Craft also had leveled up.

Before the next wolf showed up, Sigma had finished another arrow. Still, he couldn't help but sigh when he noticed that the next enemy had brought company.
