Rays of light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the surroundings. He took a deep breath, feeling the cool air fill his lungs.
The world outside was quiet, with only a few sounds of morning life breaking the silence. It was a peaceful morning, and Shijie felt as if he had awoken after countless years. Oddly so, as he woke up after dodging the claws of death, Shijie was silent. His gaze was muddled with confusion as he stared fixedly at his two hands as if he was lost in his own self.
Suddenly, his eyes shined with realization as he seemingly fell into pondering; only to get jolted awake by the sound of clanking metal followed by a gasp.
