A small brown dog paused, its eyes scanning through the forest before it. Its snout twitched as it drew in the crisp winter air, trying to filter out the scent of prey.
The woofer's ears perked up as it picked up on something, and it pointed its nose to the left of the trail.
"Good girl."
Someone behind the dog spoke softly, giving the pup a pat on the head as they stepped forward. Two more sets of footsteps crunched quickly through the snow behind the first, advancing into the forest. The second pair sounded similar to the first, but the third was a bit different.
"Be ready. It might fly up at any time."
All of the group members raised their bows, pointing them into the forest. After a few steps, the one in the lead noticed some movement.
