Edol paused, peeking his head through the hatchway to see what was going on downstairs. The angle from the kitchen didn't allow him to see who was at the door, but he could easily hear an angry man's voice.
"Joff, you've gone too far! I get that Easthill's done some stuff, but targeting random civilians is too far!"
Willow came up next to Edol, also listening in.
"That's Lod's voice… he was paired up with me before. He didn't like what Joff has been doing over the past, and he also left, just like me. I guess it's just been Joff alone, then…"
Suddenly, another voice broke upon the scene. It sounded like an older man, his voice rough with age.
"What is going on here? Joff, this is one of those guys you brought over from Miaan, right? Don't have him cause a ruckus outside!"
Ushering them inside, the older man closed the door behind them.
Wanting to inform Joff of the intruder he'd uncovered, Edol slid down the ladder, followed by Willow.
