While Edol was recuperating from the flames, Will and Seph were still in shock. Just moments ago, Edol was with them. Now he was surely becoming a spider snack.
"He's dead…"
Seph crouched down, covering her face with an arm.
"It's my fault. I'm the one who said we could go through safely."
She had correctly identified the webs hanging throughout the cavern, but forgot one crucial thing. This was a tomb, not reality.
If the tomb's creator was afraid of a certain cavern covered in webs, but was also afraid of a different species of spider, the result could be like what they just saw.
Even then, animals in tombs often didn't act according to their natural instincts. No normal spider web would see a wave of arachnids charging toward their prey. Even if it had been the original spiders inhabiting the area, they might've still ignored the light and attacked the team.
Seph punched the ground, her knuckles reddening after the impact.
