Human encampment.
Fax looked at Arnoux in front of him with cold eyes.
"Little guy, do you realize how many people died because of your false information? Even our three forces suffered casualties," Fax said in a cold voice.
Arnoux clenched his teeth and responded.
"Commander Fax, everything I reported is true. When we first arrived at the dungeon, we only encountered wolves and no green creatures," Arnoux said, his fist clenched.
He also felt aggrieved, but he didn't show it on his face. He was clear-headed enough not to provoke this man further. After all, he was only at the second stage of body tempering, while the man in front of him was a building base master.
When he encountered the goblin riders, he was taken aback and immediately ordered everyone to retreat. He didn't even consider fighting them. The wolves alone had rendered his group helpless, let alone adding another creature riding on them.
Observing Arnoux's expression, which didn't appear deceitful, Fax decided not to pursue the matter any further. Most of the casualties were from other forces and rogue cultivators. As for his own soldiers, casualties in battle were expected, so he didn't pay much attention to them. He had only interrogated Arnoux because of the two elders.
"You're only at the second stage of body tempering, so it's natural that you don't know much... Alright, you can go now," Fax said dismissively, not even bothering to look at Arnoux. His attention was fixed on the unfamiliar stone in his hand.
Arnoux quickly exited the tent, relieved to be away from there.
Shortly after, two figures entered the tent. It was the two elders.
"Commander Fax, the returner stone is truly remarkable. Such a small thing, yet it can teleport six people outside," one of the elders remarked.
They had no knowledge of the location of this place in the world. Even if it wasn't far from the tower, it was still an impressive feat.
Any item related to teleportation or space was considered a holy treasure in the Orland Kingdom and even in the neighboring kingdom.
"Yes, it would be great if we could decipher this returner stone and replicate it. It would be a massive boon for the Oland Kingdom," Fax said.
"Indeed, but I doubt it's possible. Even the best 4-star weapon refiner in the kingdom might struggle to decipher it," Elder San said, stroking his long beard.
"You're right."
It wasn't that they looked down on the 4-star weapon refiner; in fact, they had never even seen one in person. It was just that items involving space were not easily crafted.
Additionally, every 4-star practitioner in any field was highly respected in the kingdom.
"Do the two elders intend to personally explore the forest? We need to locate the monsters' nest, so when reinforcements arrive tomorrow, we can directly attack their stronghold."
Upon hearing this, the two elders sneered inwardly.
'This bastard wants us to do all the work,' they thought, but they could only nod.
After all, it was a joint operation of the three forces, so the two elders couldn't complain. Moreover, Fax had a higher cultivation level than them.
However, a soldier suddenly burst into the tent, panting heavily.
"Commander Fax! We're under attack!"
