Chapter 1 - Outset

Catherine Hayes

It's the first day of high school for Catherine. She is so excited to finally start her high school.

I was getting ready for the first day of my high school when I saw my brother Matt coming inside the room and asking, "How much time will you still take?" "Just 2 minutes" I replied. "Get ready fast Cat I don't want to be late on the first day of my senior year, Liam already called me thrice. I am waiting in the car" he said before going downstairs. Liam is my brother's best friend who I cannot stand. I mean who can tolerate a cold asshole like him. I feel sorry for whoever will be his wife. I sometimes wonder how my innocent brother is best friends with him. I finished making my hair and looked at myself in the mirror I was looking so different than last year.

After taking a last glance at myself I walk downstairs and was greeted by mom and dad. I hugged my dad first because he is someone I look up to and love the most. "All the best pumpkin for the first day " Dad said lovingly. "Thank you, dad " I replied and hugged him. He might be a billionaire for the world but for me he is my hero. He had an important meeting but he rescheduled it so he could wish me luck. I am a Daddy's girl. I kissed my mom and bid goodbye to Mom and Dad.

After that I took off to school with my brother. I texted my best friend Sophie on the way to school to ask her if she left her house. As usual she hasn't seen my message yet and I am damn sure she would be late for school and that too on the first day. After 15 minutes drive we finally reached our school : The Royal Highs.

Weirdly when I was entering the gate of school, I got a feeling that this year would be a lot different than other. I parted ways with my brother after he lectured me about being careful and studying properly. I headed towards my class and was waiting for Sophie in the corridor when I was pushed by someone who was running and when I looked up to see who it was God save me it is the hottest boy of our class no even school the great Andrew Taylor. I have a crush on him since we were kids but I don't have courage to talk to him and to make matters worse his dad and my dad are business partners so we meet frequently at business events.

I was so lost looking at his handsome face that I didn't noticed him waving his hand and asking me " Are you okay?" "I am fine" I replied. He rushed inside the class giving me a wink and his signature smile which every girl dies for. I was smiling after seeing it. "Stop smiling like an idiot" I heard someone saying suddenly and I looked to who this voice belongs, and God why do you hate me because it's none other than Liam. Unfortunately for me not only is he my brother's best friend but his father also is CEO of a multimillionaire company, so I need to tolerate him often.

"Cat!!" someone shouted from behind and by someone, I mean my one and only best friend Sophie. "Sophie!!!"I said excitedly and hugged her tightly because it's been weeks since I met her because she went to Paris, and I went to Dubai for vacation. I forgot about the unfortunate incident of meeting Liam once I started talking to Sophie about how holidays went. We then entered the class and took seats in the middle. "I need to pay extra attention to my Chemistry and Math this year" I told Sophie. " I also need to improve my grades than last year. Let's take help from someone in senior year " she suggested. "I agree" I replied.
