The lesson continued and Zenon couldn't believe his eyes. Solid two hours of constant fighting yet no one managed to bring Aurea down!
There was just... no way of doing so! Every side step, every fake kick, and the tiniest detail of her movements could ensure her victory! Even the most explosive offense and sturdy defense couldn't contain her strength!
'A monster... she is a monster!'
Not only that, but the difference in strategies was something that took Zenon off guard, yet Aurea acted like they were nothing but annoying flies that had to be exterminated.
The big circle turned into a smaller one with each fight, and currently, only ten Unseens were left from the previous hundred or so!
Zenon already left the library long ago and rushed to his dorm to spectate the last few fights within the comfortable bedsheets.
By the end, no Unseen remained, proclaiming Aurea the champion after going through a perfect game of King of the Hill. She was panting heavily with sweat running down her forehead and cheeks. After all, she destroyed at least a hundred Unseens!
The longest fight only lasted around twenty seconds anyways.
'What... what have I just seen. Is this reality?!'
She turned back to Dan who had a wide smile formed as he clapped.
"Wonderful... impressive! Truly an outstanding sight to behold! Don't feel demotivated anyways, she's been training since the second she took her first step." Aurea slowly turned and stared at Dan dead in the eyes, who just laughed it off.
"Everyone, gather in the middle while I bring a machine to test your full strength. This was just for your skills after all... and some of you need to improve them."
Every Unseen gathered in the middle of the warehouse while staying far enough from those two monsters who were casually talking.
Most of them began muttering about a Visionary Soul could make such destruction. They wondered if Aurea's Elemental Ability or Familiar gave her some sort of speed boost or perhaps strength boost.
After some minutes, Dan returned, pushing a big machine with a red pad right in the middle.
"Now... I want you to power up with every you have. Don't use your Familiar's weapon to do so, I just want to check your own strength. And in case your Elemental Ability does give you a physical boost, apply it."
It wasn't rare the appearance of an Ability whose only purpose was to give a temporal strength boost. In fact, most of the Abilities revolved around this boost. This didn't mean that there could be Abilities that gave different powers.
And there's the possibility that their own Familiars would give them a boost with their Ability, even their unique Innate Ability. That's why Zenon was annoyed about Leviathan's Innate, it was used for messing with him and nothing else.
For example, if someone had a bear for a Familiar, and said Familiar gave them his claws to use as a weapon; it's more than probable that either his Ability or Innate will give them some sort of stamina boost to withstand such power.
So it's not wrong to say that the second reason Elemental Soul exists is purely to awaken one's Familiar. The first is - obviously - to survive the Layers.
'I wonder in which weapon you'll transform. I hope you don't disappoint me.'
Leviathan held his desire to screech at Zenon and focused on the number that the machine will show. Then, each of the Unseens took turns striking the pad once.
The numbers ranged from 5 to 12 as each person struck the machine. Sometimes, a really muscular person would get less than a skinny one. This was influenced because of their Familiar Ability or Elemental Ability.
Now, it was Aurea's turn. She got in front of the machine and corrected her stance. Then, she delivered such a powerful and fast blow that sent the machine back some centimeters, sliding across the ground.
It displayed a 15. This was the difference between a 12 and a 15, just a three-number difference made such a drastic change.
'What the... what kind of Familiar is that bird?! There's no Familiar that gives such strength and speed! Unless... her Elemental Ability maybe does so? But that makes no sense... just what is she?'
"Alright. We have some interesting results here." Dan said as he took note of Aurea's score. "Anyways, the three hours are already over, so you may go to your dorm now. For those who stay, you can use most of the warehouse's equipment to train your abilities.
For those who leave, I'll see you tomorrow."
The Unseens nodded and some of them left the warehouse. In the end, sixty of them remained training, including Aurea. Zenon watched her with interest and wondered...
'How could an Unseen be so strong?'
---
Zenon stepped inside the warehouse with the help of his Familiar, who deactivated the alarm. It was late at night and getting caught would be a big problem that he wanted to avoid at all costs. The earliest time you could enter the training facility was 6 AM, but Zenon had no time for that.
He needed to try something out.
He found the machine that the Unseens used for measuring their power and Zenon prepared himself to give it a try as well. He got into position and deliver the most powerful blow his arm could deliver.
*BAM!*
Now you would say. Isn't too much noise a problem? It would wake someone up right?
Well... not exactly. The entirety of the shelter is sound-proof and the dorms were on the opposite side of the facility. Meaning that by the time any sound reaches that section, it's either too low to hear or inexistent.
Snapping back to reality, the panel displayed an eight.
Zenon looked at the machine confused, thinking that it may have malfunctioned. Nonetheless, he tried again and this time he hit it so hard his knuckles were spared from breaking by the angels.
Sadly, it displayed an eight again.
'Huh... aren't you supposed to be as strong as a god? How come I'm getting only this.'
Leviathan laughed while looking at the display. Zenon however was still wondering how to boost his power. Then realization struck him.
He activated Void Sense and saw all the purple veins peacefully floating around the air and commanded them to wrap his hand. All of the Void in the warehouse wrapped around and he once again got into stance.
He then delivered the same blow he did two times before, and the result got him dumbfounded.
It displayed sixteen. Doubled the last two blows.
'Now this is something else!' Zenon laughed as he eyes his hand, wrapped by a thin veil of purple matter. Luckily, if he deactivated Void Sense it became invisible to the human eye, so he could be extremely overpowered in a fight without their opponents knowing.
"Alright, I guess I'm ready to go. Nothing else to do here."
He began walking toward the exit but the second he touched the pommel to leave, he remained still and grinned.
Commanding the Void to wrap around his legs, Zenon ran toward the machine and when he was in front of it he wrapped the Void around his right leg and kicked the machine as hard as he could.
*BANG!*
He then looked at the panel which displayed the number...
Eighteen.
'How could I forget...' He looked at his legs and said, 'My legs are the most powerful parts of my body... Even though I'm not really someone that uses kicks...'
Not satisfied with only trying this, Zenon searched for his Familiar, who slowly levitated toward him and mockingly said , "Hey, how about you give it a try? Maybe you get more than me!"
Leviathan looked at Zenon with pity before making a sharp 180 degrees turn and returning to the door.
'Well, I tried.'
