Football game
Marie's POV
I got a ride to the game with Julia and Samantha. Samantha walked in ahead of us to catch up with Tara and Brooke.
"Quit messing with your t-shirt; you look fine." Julia said as I pulled down on the dark red henley t-shirt that I brought yesterday.
"And quit running your fingers through your hair." She said when I was about to run my left hand through my hair.
"You look great and if he doesn't like the way you are dressed then it's his loss but I am telling you he will like it." She said.
We walked towards the usual stands we sit in and I saw that Shay and them were in their usual spot. Blair was sitting on Clint's left side. I was surprised to see Shay wearing a dark blue hat because he usually doesn't wear a hat but it went with his dark blue t-shirt and the dark denim pants he was wearing. His earring was back in his left ear and I saw he had a star sharpie drawn tattoo on his left hand along with the usual scorpion tattoo on his right hand.
"Girls." Ryder said when he saw us then Clint, Blair, and Shay looked to see us.
I saw Shay look me up and down as we stopped beside their row.
"Loser." Julia said looking at Ryder.
"I know I am growing on you baby girl." Ryder said winking at her.
"In your dreams." Julia said.
"Everything good here?" Paul asked showing up and putting his left arm around Julia.
"Yeah just making friendly conversation with your girlfriend." Clint said looking at him.
"Let's go baby." Paul said and she nodded her head.
They both turned to walk away and when I didn't follow, Shay smiled before moving closer towards Ryder to make room for me at the end of the row.
"Marie." Paul said then I looked to see they had stopped and turned around to face me.
"She's good; talk at half-time?" Julia asked smiling at me.
Paul gave her a look then he looked at Shay.
"That's Shay isn't it; the one Eric told me about." Paul said since he doesn't go to our school.
"And I am sure he just sung my praises." Shay said looking at Paul and Paul shook his head.
Paul looked back at me then I signed I'm fine; I will catch up with you two later.
He signed are you sure?
I nodded my head then Julia pulled on his hand to make him turn around then they walked up the stands.
"Angel." Shay said smiling at me as I slowly sat down beside him.
Since there wasn't much room for me, my left leg was touching his right leg.
"Joining the dark side Ames?" Clint asked.
"Don't worry we have candy." Ryder said before shaking a box of candy and Shay shook his head.
"Don't be scared Angel; I got you I promise." Shay whispered in my left ear as he moved his face closer to me.
I felt him kiss my neck right below my ear before moving his face a little bit away from me.
"Are you hungry? We can go get something to eat." Shay said.
I signed sure and he quickly stood up then held his right hand out towards me.
I put my left hand in his and he smiled really big before pulling me up then we walked down the stands and towards the concession stands.
"So what do you want to eat?" He asked as we got closer to the concession stands.
I went to take my hand away from his then he gripped my hand tighter.
"How about you just point at it when we get there? I like holding your hand." He said smiling at me.
I nodded my head and he continued to smile.
We were in line at the concession stands when I saw Samantha, Tara, and Brooke walking away from the bathrooms.
"Marie." Samantha said when she saw me.
"Hey girls." Shay said waving at all of them as they stopped near us.
Samantha looked at us holding hands then up at my face.
"You are kidding me? You like him." Tara said in a disgusting voice as she looked Shay up and down then at me.
"At least I am not fake." Shay said pointing at her dyed blonde hair.
"Marie, come with us." Samantha said holding her left hand out towards me.
"She can make her own decisions. What is up with all of you trying to control her?" Shay asked in a mad voice.
"You are an outsider; we don't have to explain anything to you." Brooke said looking at Shay.
"Marie." Samantha said giving me a look.
"Angel, think for yourself." Shay said looking at me.
The line moved forward.
"Seriously, just make a choice. Either move up or get out of line." A guy said from behind us.
I took a step forward and Shay followed.
"There's your answer." Shay said smiling at Samantha and them.
Samantha shook her head at me before walking away then Tara and Brooke followed her.
When we got to the front of the line and the person asked what we wanted, Shay ordered some nachos, a Dr. Pepper, and a pickle. When the person looked at me I pointed to the popcorn then at a Dr. Pepper. The person nodded their head before going to get everything.
I took my hand away from Shay when they came back with everything. I started grabbing some of the stuff as Shay paid for everything. When we got back to the stands, I started eating everything. I spent most of the time up to halftime just listening to Shay and them talk. When it was halftime I got up then walked up the stands.
"You okay?" Julia asked as I sat down beside her.
I signed how mad is Samantha and them.
"Don't worry about them; you do what makes you happy and what you want to do." She said.
I signed how mad.
She sighed before giving me a look.
"Really mad." She said and I nodded my head.
"Oh so now you decided to join us." Samantha said showing back up with Tara and Brooke.
"Do you have any idea how bad it makes us look when you are seen hanging out with that juvenile and holding his hand?" Brooke asked in a mad voice.
"He hasn't gotten in that much trouble." Julia said.
"He punched your brother; how can you stand up for him?" Tara asked giving Julia a look.
"Because maybe my brother deserved it. He has no claim on Marie." Julia said.
"And I think it is stupid that all of you think you can tell Marie who she can and can not date just because he might not fit into our hierarchy at this school." Julia said in a mad voice.
She said it loud enough that a lot of people heard and turned to look at all of us including Shay and them.
"Are we all good?" Paul asked showing up and pushing past Samantha and them to get to Julia and me.
When he got to where I was at, he held out a Snickers towards me and I took it then he sat down on Julia's left side.
"Maybe you can talk some sense into your girlfriend." Samantha said looking at him.
"She is entitled to her own opinion and I am not going to tell her she shouldn't think a certain way." He said and Julia smiled at him.
"We have this hierarchy at this school for a reason. People should stick to their own kind and Shay and those juveniles will never be like us or on our level." Samantha said.
"Rich coming from a girl who is only at the top of the hierarchy because of who you are dating and you had to change yourself to land him." Ryder said in a really loud voice and Samantha flipped him off without turning around to look at him.
I shook my head before standing up and pushing past Samantha and them to walk away. When I got close to where they were at, Shay stood up and blocked my way down the stands.
"Angel." He said when I made it to where he was at.
I signed move; let me go.
"You leave; I am going with you." He said looking me straight in the eyes.
He moved out of the way and I quickly walked past him. I heard him following me and I didn't stop until I got to Julia's car. It didn't take long before he stopped in front of me.
"You shouldn't let them get to you. You are allowed to make your own choices like Julia said and you shouldn't let them make you feel bad because of a choice you make." He said.
I signed I wish I could be like you and not care what other people think.
"Then let me show you the way. Don't push me away Marie." He said taking a step closer to me.
He stopped really close to me then held up his left hand. When I didn't stop him he touched my right cheek. He looked me in the eyes as he lowered his face closer to mine. He brushed his lips against mine. When I didn't pull away, he moved his hand from my face then wrapped his left arm around me. He brushed his lips against mine again before kissing me. The kiss was slow and sweet. After I don't know how long, I felt him run his tongue along my lips. Someone cleared their throat after that and I broke the kiss. We both looked to see Julia and she smiled at us.
"You taking her home?" Julia asked looking at Shay.
"If she let's me, I was hoping to take her to eat before taking her home." Shay said.
"Her curfew is 11." Julia said looking at him then she winked at me before walking away.
"So what do you say Angel? You ready to go get some real food; I am good with missing the rest of the game." Shay said looking at me.
"We can go to the End Zone Diner or the Pizza Shack or wherever you want to go." He said.
"I have my dad's truck." He said.
I signed we could go to the diner.
He nodded his head before taking a step away from me and removing his arm from around me before holding his left hand out towards me.
"If you are cold, my leather jacket is in the backseat." He said after we got in the truck.
It was the first time I noticed he was wearing a different jacket than usual and this one was black too but wasn't leather. I had on a black jacket but it was a lightweight one. I just buckled up and he nodded his head as he buckled up before starting the truck.
When we got to the End Zone Diner, we sat down in a booth in the very back and we sat down across from each other.
"This is something you don't see every day." A girl with long brown hair and looked to be a 9th grader said as she stopped at the table.
She looked familiar so I knew she probably went to our school.
"No offense." She said looking at Shay.
"Don't worry about it Olivia." Shay said reading her nametag and smiling at her.
"So what can I get you two?" She asked smiling at both of us.
"I'll take the daily special and a Dr. Pepper to drink." Shay said and she started writing that down.
"And for you?" She asked.
I grabbed a menu then opened it before pointing to the house salad then to the ranch dressing before pointing to Dr. Pepper to drink.
"Alright I'll be back soon with the drinks." She said writing that down then walking away.
"What did you get?" Shay asked as I put the menu up.
I signed a salad with ranch dressing and a Dr. Pepper.
"A salad; Angel, there is nothing wrong with the way you look. Get a hamburger if that is what you want. I'm paying for all of this so you don't have to go cheap." He said.
I signed thank you but I like salads.
He nodded his head after that.
I pointed to his left hand and he smiled.
"The new sharpie tattoo." He said and I nodded my head.
"Did it this afternoon in study hall." He said.
I signed your dad doesn't care.
"He learned a long time ago that whatever he says I am just going to do the opposite. He's just happy they aren't permanent." He said still smiling.
"You want one? I can give you one." He said.
I signed that might be pushing it too much and I don't think I'm the type of girl that would want one.
"You never know and I think you would totally rock a tattoo." He said as Olivia showed back up.
Olivia sat down our drinks then walked away.
Our food came 20 minutes later and we ate in silence.
"So, where am I taking you?" He asked as we made it back to the truck.
I took out my phone and typed in my address. He looked at my phone then nodded his head before buckling up.
I signed you can't get out of the truck; just drop me off then leave.
He gave me a look before nodding his head then I buckled up.
"Are you wearing make-up on your neck?" He asked as he started the truck.
I nodded my head when he looked at me. He nodded his head before looking away.
When we got to the house, he parked in the driveway then looked at the 2 story house before looking at me.
I signed I'll see you at school.
He nodded his head then I opened the door to his truck. He waited until I was in the house before backing out of the driveway. I went straight up to my room then took a bath before going to sleep.
