Mark and Thrain went deep into the woods, following the trail left behind by the car driven by Fiona. It was tiring because the trail seems not to have an end to it, it hadn't led them to where the car was.
They both began to get eerie feelings, everything in the woods was dead silent, except the rustling of leaves, and the sounds of cricket chirping sending a shiver down their spines.
The leaves rustled continuously, only for a rabbit to come out running. Mark froze in fear, finally letting out a sigh of relief, seeing it was only a rabbit.
Finally, they caught sight of the car from afar.
They got closer. Thrain rushed towards the door, about to open it, but was immediately stopped by Mark.
"Are you crazy? Want to put me in trouble?" he said, pulling out four pairs of gloves out of his school bag.
Thrain stared down at mark, he was wondering what he had always spent his time doing.
"Gloves? Well, ain't crazy" he refuted, "I'm just clueless".
"Clueless or stupid?" he replied.
"You don't go around touching things carelessly, if both of them aren't found and the case escalates, the cops would probably be involved, and once the case gets beyond reach, investigation commences from this car as it's most likely the only lead, If your prints are found on any parts of the car, you become an accomplice, then you'll be detained by the police officers, and in worst-case scenario they aren't found, you become a prime suspect and…".
"Yeah, I get your detailed information" he said, cutting Mark's word short because he wouldn't like to hear what's next.
Mark threw two pairs of gloves at him. He put his on, opened the door and began to examine the inside of the car. He switched on the car's engine, but it won't respond. Thrain stood there watching his actions.
"No scratches on the car, two! The engine is dead…" mark held on to his chin. "They were chased by something" he said as he got down from the car.
He began to walk towards the direction of the headlights, all he saw were prints of big feet buried deep in the ground.
"Probably seven feet" he muttered.
"Thrain, please come closer… isn't that in the direction of your house?" he asked.
"Mm, yeah, and what'd that get to do with this?".
Mark turned heading towards the opposite direction, he didn't have the time to give answers to Thrain's questions because he was currently in his simulation mode.
"Ethan would have run in that direction, since he is smart, but he wouldn't last long".
"Why?" Thrain asked because he was confused.
Mark stared at Thrain, "he has a bad stamina" he replied.
They headed towards the direction mark pointed out. After walking for what felt like hours, they finally got to where Ethan laid unconscious.
Mark ran towards him shouting out his name, "Ethan Ethan!" he shouted as he shook him but no response. Thrain got closer and began to add pressure on his chest.
"Mark!, Let's get out of here it's getting pretty late and dark already" he said, starting to scan his surroundings.
"What about Fiona?" he asked with a worried look shown on his face.
"The cops would probably find her" he said, lifting Ethan unto his shoulders, "Shoot! He is heavy".
As Thrain lifted Ethan, Mark stared at him in such a strange way.
"Coke on Mark! Fiona would be fine, let's find a solution to Ethan's".
Not long they left the woods, the cops finally got a sniff of Fiona's scent thanks to the hunting dogs.
Officer Johnson ran towards Fiona, lifted her off the ground and rushed her to a general hospital.
….
Mrs. Anderson's phone rang out as she hurriedly picked it.
"Hello, am I speaking to Mrs. Anderson?" the voice asked.
"Yes, yes, I'm Anderson" she said with a shaky voice, hoping not to get bad news.
"Your daughter, Fiona Anderson, has been found". The details of the hospital she'd been admitted to would be relayed to you through an SMS.
As soon as she got the alert, she hurriedly drove to the hospital.
AT THE HOSPITAL
As Mrs. Anderson hesitantly entered her daughter's hospital room, she saw her laid on the bed with her neck and some other parts of her body heavily bandaged. She had a pale look on her face. The room was quiet except for the sounds of the machines connected to her daughter's body.
Mrs. Anderson sat down on the chair next to Fiona's bed and reached over to hold her hand. Fiona's fingers were cold and clammy. Mrs. Anderson's heartfelt heavy as she ran her eyes through Fiona's wound.
"How are you feeling, my love?" Mrs. Anderson asked.
"Not good, mom" she replied with a weak voice barely above a whisper.
Mrs. Anderson felt a lump in her throat. She had always been strong for her daughter, but seeing her in such a vulnerable state made her feel hopeless.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you, Fiona," she said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I should have never allowed you to go out so late at night".
"It's not your fault, mom," said Fiona, squeezing her mother's hand. "It was just an unfortunate incident".
Mrs. Anderson shook her head. "I can't stand to see you like this. I wish I could take away your pain".
Fiona smiled weakly. "Just being here with you is enough, mom".
Mrs. Anderson leaned in and hugged her daughter tightly, careful not to touch the bandages. She felt Fiona's tears on her shoulder, and she stroked her hair softly.
"Everything will be okay, my love," she whispered softly. "I won't leave your side until you're better."
"But mom… What about your work?" Fiona said, twitching her mouth.
"Come on, I'll take care of that".
Mrs. Anderson kissed Fiona's forehead and settled back down in the chair. She held her daughter's hand, watching as her daughter drifted off to sleep.
Mrs. Anderson knew that it would take time for her daughter's wound to heal, but she also knew that she would be there to help her.
The doctor came in to check on Fiona's health. He checked out her temperature, heartbeat and her body pressure, and all were perfect.
"When would be the approximate time my daughter will leave the hospital… I meant when is she going to be all healed?"
"I can't be so certain, she got bitten in the neck and her back. A delicate part of the body" the doctor said as he got closer to Fiona and slightly removed the bandage placed on her back, but to his surprise, it was clean and spotless as if she never got bitten in the first place.
"It'd healed up?" the doctor's jaw dropped.
….
The air was thick with the scent of air and musk as a pack of werewolves gathered under the night sky, Their yellow eyes glinted in the moonlight, while their sharp teeth were bared in anticipation. The alpha of the pack, a massive and muscular guy with a piercing red eyes, stepped forward.
"My brothers and sisters," he said, his voice low and powerful. "We have much to discuss tonight. As you know, our territory has been threatened by the vampires once again. They have been encroaching on our land, destroying and hunting out our prey. We cannot allow this to continue".
"Zane! Did you forget the reason the infinite growlers were created?" a snarl was heard after his words. They knew Zane had done something wrong.
"To create a pack led by a zeta, filled with strong alphas, betas, and omegas alongside other species who'll go against the dreadful actions of the vampires" he said with a glint of fear.
"Then why did you bite those college students? Are you trying secretly to increase your authority as an alpha within the pack?".
"No! I felt a strong connection with those two, and I had no choice but to do it" Zane said calmly, trying to clear himself.
The alpha clenched his fist, finally letting out a sigh. "They are now your betas, take responsibility for your actions".
"Thank you alpha" Zane said, feeling grateful.
He let him off because he is part of the pack's main strength, therefore, letting him go for a mere reason would be a waste. He just wanted to be certain Zane had no ulterior motives.
The alpha continued. " There is a young man I would love to introduce into the pack, he is a lone wolf… an omega".
"An Omega? Who is he for you to personally want to introduce him to the pack?" another alpha asked.
This young man defies all sense of what we've known about our kind. As an omega, a werewolf without a park, he or she is meant to be weak.
But, this young man appears to be exceptional, I used an alphas' dominance on him, all he did was flinch, "His pure sheer force of will… he is rare".
The whole pack was shocked at what they heard.
"Perhaps he was an alpha before he was probably kicked out of his pack" a beta said.
"Well, that's it on his case, our scouts have reported that a group of hunters is finally active and planning on setting up our territory. We must act swiftly and decisively. We will show them we are not to be trifled with".
The alpha's words were met with a chorus of howls. They knew that a battle was coming, but were ready to fight and go all out.
As the meeting came to a close, they dispersed into the light.
…
"He has become who you are".
