Chapter 210 - SYFY

"Alex, your movies are doing really well now, but are there any new TV series recently? If there are any, you must come to me. The cooperation between Endeavor Elite and you has always been very good. If you have new business development, you must come to me."

Alexander smiled, coping with the chat with the Endeavor Talent Agency, but his eyes never stopped. He was always wandering around in the hall, searching for Levi's whereabouts.

Where did this guy go again?

The time has come to September, and the annual Emmy Awards are underway.

The banquet, this time, is the after-party of the Emmy Awards. Alexander and Levi, as the bosses of Enigma Company, and their company has hit dramas, were also invited.

This year's Emmy Awards, they also got nothing.

Although the ratings of Heroes are still good, they are still not seen by the Emmy Awards.

It wasn't a big deal — Alexander didn't pay much attention to the Emmy Awards. But after the Emmy Awards, Alexander hadn't had a break at the banquet before he was pestered by people from Endeavor Talent Agency, who kept saying that he had a new business, which made Alexander quickly realize something.

I'm afraid that Nick is messing around again.

If Nick has a new idea, he must discuss it with himself first. The brokerage company knows it, but he still doesn't know it. Alexander suppressed the anger in his heart while greeting the people around him; he felt a little anxious.

"There are no new works recently..." Alexander was perfunctory, but the other party was not satisfied with his attitude.

"I clearly saw Nick chatting with the people from the SYFY TV station. Are you planning to make a new sci-fi TV series? Alex, we are good friends. If you have a plan, don't hide it from me..."

Is Nick over there? Alexander heard what he wanted to know in the words, apologized hastily, and strode over. And at this moment, he was also surprised by another name in his heart.

SYFY TV station? Nick actually wants to cooperate with them?

He hurried a few steps, and sure enough, he saw Levi standing there. It's just that there seems to be no one around him now.

"Nick, where have you been? I've been looking for you all this time."

"It's just for hanging out... What can I do for you?" Looking at Alexander, who was a little dissatisfied, Levi asked directly.

"You're fooling again... I heard you are discussing cooperation with people from SYFY TV? Is there really such a thing?"

"Yeah, I am thinking of cooperating with them on a science fiction TV series."

Science fiction TV series? Alexander frowned, "Nick, this is not a good idea."

"It's just a sci-fi TV show."

"Don't say that; Do you think I don't know you yet? Every time you want to do something, you plan step by step beforehand, make enough preparations, and then tell your purpose. What you said is just to make a sci-fi TV series. In fact, what you really want to do is a sci-fi movie, right?"

Alexander's keen judgment made Levi look up in surprise. He didn't expect that his little thoughts would be easily seen through by Alexander.

It seems that in the past few years of cooperation, they have learned a lot about each other.

As for Levi's habit of making sure of the preparations and only then starting filming, Alexander obviously understood.

"Well, I really have this idea." Levi shrugged. It is an admission of this statement.

"You really want to shoot a sci-fi movie?"

Alexander, who was still a little angry just now, calmed down after hearing Levi's frank admission. Levi is not an idiot; he's very methodical; if he wants to do a certain type of movie, it's definitely well thought out... These things Alexander knows better than anyone.

However, he was still talking about science fiction movies.

"Nick, have you really figured it out? What you're talking about is sci-fi." Alexander didn't understand Levi's thoughts, "Even if I don't need to tell you, you know that sci-fi is a very unpopular type of film. The Oscars don't like these types of movies. What are you thinking?"

When Alexander heard Levi chatting with people from the SYFY TV station, this question had already rushed into his mind. Levi is now a director with an excellent reputation, and such a reputation is hard-won.

Alexander knows how difficult it is for a director to gain the audience's reputation, and he also knows it is not easy for Levi to have the current reputation. This is a good reputation earned by several good movies. As long as he makes a bad movie, his reputation is over.

Although Alexander has been teasing, saying he hopes Levi will make some commercial films, that doesn't mean he can watch Levi goof off on his hard-earned reputation.

A director's golden period of creation is often not long, so it cannot be wasted.

Hearing his words, Levi just frowned, "Alex, you have too much prejudice against sci-fi movies. It's not like there are no good sci-fi movies."

"It's not that I have deep prejudices. It's that the entire film industry has a bad impression of this kind of film."

"First of all, I didn't make films for the Oscars. Theoretically speaking, science fiction films can also win awards. Since we can shoot other films, why not give ourselves some imagination to use for the Oscars."

Levi's rebuttal has his reason: he knows there are movies to win Oscars in the future, such as Gravity. To say that science fiction works cannot win awards is to underestimate science fiction.

"Because reality is very heavy, dreams cannot fly." But Alexander still insisted on his opinion, and he spread his hands. "The reality is that the Oscars don't like sci-fi films, and sci-fi films have never won awards." "What the Oscars don't like is some sci-fi films." Levi corrected, "It's not that science fiction works don't win awards. 'Around the World in 80 Days' won multiple awards, including best film, at the Oscars. Isn't it a sci-fi film?"

Around the World in 80 Days? Alexander smiled wryly. Indeed, when this novel was written, it was a science fiction novel — the work of Jules Verne. Definitely the originator of science fiction. And it was made into a movie in 1956, and as a modern person, who would regard traveling around the world in eighty days as science fiction! Eight days are more than enough to travel around!

"You're being blunt. 'Around the World in 80 Days' was no longer a science fiction film when it was filmed." Alexander was a little dissatisfied.

"This is the greatness of Jules Verne's novels. His science fiction has become a reality... I gave an example, and what I want to say is actually just a truth: the Academy will not discriminate against movies with good logic and excellent movies. Instead of blaming the Academy for science fiction films, it is better to blame yourself for not being up to date."

Levi saw that Alexander was still unconvinced and said again, "Alex, let's put it this way. What is the first thing you think of when you think of science fiction movies?"

"Stunt effects, pictures, big scenes..."

Although he already disagreed with what Levi said, the confidence and momentum expressed by Levi made him unable to refute it.

"Tell me what you think." Alexander sighed, "Let me hear what you are thinking."
