"Anna, you're going to be late, at your interview.
Rosa was setting the coffee table
Angela, her youngest daughter, finished frying the eggs.
Mom, have you forgotten how wrapped up this girl is in.
Everything she's going to do.
This way she'll probably
She'll be there by the time the interview is over.
Anna appeared in the kitchen in a hurry, that day wearing a black social skirt, with a white silk blouse. On her feet were medium heels, and her beautiful black hair was curled into a bun.
She wanted to show that she was capable, to be the guardian of a millionaire widower's daughter.
She knew Lucas Savani from magazines and newspapers, the family of her future boss (God willing), owned several construction companies in Italy and the man was one of the best architects in Europe.
Mom, I just have time,
Stop that apple, or I'll be late, the interview is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and by the time I get there, it'll be too late.
Anna hurried off, without first blowing her mother and sister a kiss.
God grant that I get this job, I promise I won't do anything wrong, I'll try very hard, even though I have no vocation to be a nanny.
The young girl had studied to be a teacher, because it was the cheapest college she could get, and this was the only way she could get a diploma. The girl's dream was to study art, visit museums around the world and become a curator somewhere.
Unfortunately the tuition was too expensive, and she couldn't afford it.
Seven years ago her father passed away, which left the family in a complicated situation, and many problems came along the way.
Almost an hour later, the young woman arrived at the Savani mansion, located in one of the richest neighborhoods in Italy.
Good morning!
A man with a mustache, with a funny face, came to the gate, and the girl handed him the form with her data.
You may enter, miss, the interview is taking place in the office, come with me and I will take you to Mrs. Francesca.
Who would this woman be? In the agency ad, it was written that he was a widower and lived alone with his 10 year old daughter.
My lord, is she already one of those girlfriends that I watch in my sitcoms? I can't believe I have to deal with a witch to get this job.
As she passed through the large room, Anna didn't fail to notice a little girl with blonde hair playing with a kitten by the pool.
Could she be Mr. Lucas' daughter?
The mustachioed gentleman took Anna to an office in one corner of the huge mansion.
Upon entering, she was confronted by a woman about 55 years old, who was wearing a beautiful light blue dress.
The lady came up to Anna with a beautiful smile on her face, and extended her hand to the young woman. .
Good morning!
Good morning!
Anna gave a wry smile. Is she the girl's mother, girlfriend or grandmother?
Are you Anna? My name is Francesca Savani, Lucas' mother and grandmother of little Giuliana. My son unfortunately had to travel on business, but he gave me the freedom to do the interviews and to choose the employee. Can we sit down, I will ask you to bring us some tea, do you like it or do you prefer water or perhaps coffee?
Tea, I'll have tea, ma'am.
Francesca spoke to someone on the phone, and asked him to bring a small snack for the two of them.
She motioned for Anna to sit in the armchair in the corner of the study, which showed a part of the garden. There she could see her granddaughter playing.
Anna looked at the girl, and remembered when she was that age, and loved to play with the cats in the street. Since her sister was allergic to fur, it was forbidden to have cats or dogs in the house.
A smiling young woman came in with a tray, served them both, and said goodbye with a nod.
Francesca had Anna's file in her hands, and was confirming the information written there.
Age: 23 years old, graduated from the University of Bologna a year ago in early childhood education. She lived with her mother and younger sister, with no addictions, had a good command of English and German and was learning Spanish.
Looking for her first job. She has a driver's license, loves literature and classical music.
Anna confirmed everything the lady asked, afraid that she had put something that was not true in the form and would be dismissed right there and then.
After a 30 minute interview, Francesca began to explain that the young lady would live in the mansion, and work from Monday to Friday, having the weekends free to go home. Except for the weeks that Lucas was away. In the house lived her son, her granddaughter, and her husband, Roberto.
After explaining everything, Francesca began to tell us about Giuliana, the little girl Anna would take care of. The job was as a nanny, since the girl was studying during the morning and in the afternoon she had to help with schoolwork, and the extra activities the girl did.
After all the explanations, Francesca asked if the girl accepted all the conditions presented in the work contract, which she handed to the girl to read.
One of the clauses of the contract stated that it was forbidden to try any personal relationship with Lucas.
No smiling and everything was to be as professional as possible. The employee's private life was to be left out.
And the contract would be for seven years, until Giuliana turned 18, and the dedication would be exclusive to the girl.
Francesca explained that the clauses were her son's things, that after he lost his wife, he stopped believing in love and his life was only for work and his daughter.
Anna agreed, the salary, multiplied by seven years, was practically her retirement, and in a while she would be able to do the master's degree she had always dreamed of at college in London. The girl had no pretensions of falling in love; her focus was to work and earn as much money as she could in an honest and dignified way.
The young woman would start the next day and bring all the necessary documents to start working.
- Let's get to know Giuliana, she is a little shy, but as soon as she gets to trust you, she will begin to loosen up a bit. My son works all week and can only stay with her on weekends, so you will only meet him a few times here in the mansion. If you have any problems, you can talk to me, and if you have any questions, too.
