Chapter 1 - Chapter - 1 THE AWAKENING

Johnathan Mueller woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the soft rustling of leaves in the wind. Slowly, he opened his eyes and blinked several times, trying to adjust to the bright sunlight streaming through the window. His head was pounding, and his body felt heavy and sluggish.

As he tried to sit up, he realized that he was lying in a strange bed, in a room that he didn't recognize. The walls were made of rough stone, and there was a small fireplace burning in the corner. The furniture was sparse, with a wooden bed, a chest of drawers, and a few other basic items.

Johnathan tried to remember how he had gotten here, but his memories were hazy and fragmented. The last thing he could recall was working late at his job as an engineer, and then feeling a sudden jolt of pain in his head. After that, everything was a blur.

He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, swaying slightly. He felt dizzy and disoriented, as if he had just woken up from a long and deep sleep. Looking around the room, he noticed that there was a small table with a pitcher of water and a cup. He walked over and poured himself a glass, gulping it down eagerly.

As he drank, he tried to gather his thoughts and figure out where he was. He knew that something was off - the room, the furniture, the clothes that he was wearing - all of it seemed to be from a different time and place. It was as if he had been transported to a different era.

Feeling a sense of panic rising within him, Johnathan stumbled to the window and looked out. He saw a bustling courtyard below, filled with horses and carts, people dressed in strange clothes, and a castle in the distance. The sight of it made his head spin, and he had to grab onto the windowsill to steady himself.

What was happening to him? Was he dreaming? Was this some kind of elaborate prank? He had so many questions, and no answers. All he knew was that he had to find out what was going on, and how he could get back to his old life.

With that thought in mind, Johnathan took a deep breath and headed out of the room, determined to explore the castle and find some answers.

As he walked through the corridors of the castle, Johnathan couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between his old life and his new one. Gone were the familiar sounds of cars and airplanes, replaced by the clattering of horses' hooves and the chatter of people in a language that he didn't understand. The air smelled different, too - there was a faint aroma of wood smoke and animal dung that he found both familiar and unsettling.

Despite his disorientation, Johnathan couldn't help but marvel at the castle itself. It was a massive stone structure, with walls that towered above him and a maze of corridors and staircases that seemed to go on forever. As he walked, he caught glimpses of other people - servants, soldiers, and nobles - going about their business. They all seemed to take one look at him and then look away, as if they were afraid to make eye contact.

Eventually, Johnathan found himself in a grand hall that was filled with people. There was a long table in the center, surrounded by people dressed in fine clothes and eating a lavish meal. At the head of the table sat a man who looked to be in his late fifties, with a thick beard and a fur-trimmed cloak.
