I woke up to the sound of explosions.
Quickly rolling from my bed to the ground, I grabbed a musket strapped under my bed, as I checked the dorms for enemies, there were none.
the other recruits woke up after me, some started panicking while some other repeated my process, I ignored the ones in the back but I still someone focused on the recruits next to the dorms room.
After checking the dorms integrity and my fellow recruit's well-being with a side-eye check, I quickly changed into military uniform.
As the last recruits finished changing a sergeant storm into the dorms.
- We´re under enemy raid, quickly follow me, do not lose track of me!
As he said that he turned around and starter running towards the closer dorm and repeated the process, his uniform was covered in dirt and a black substance, similar to oil, which had a putrid smell as that of waste water.
The narrow hallways gave an ominous feeling towards the new recruits, after we left the Camp, no one had the will to chit-chat and the sound of gun fire started taking a toll on their nerves.
Repeating this process, we left the building the dorms were in.
As we step out I noticed what was the sergeants covered in, it were Elven guts.
I noticed this after seeing the turned mangle and mutilated corpses of elves right out of the base.
The new cadets who hadn´t seen how the body of a humanoid look from inside made gag noises, but there was no time to puke.
Analyzing the scenery i deduced elves attacked the outpost after finding out new recruits were coming, they were not wrong.
The sergeant order us to take defensive positions the group split into three smaller ones, the first one went to the borders of the camp to repel the invaders, the second one would assist the main force defending the insides of the camp, whilst the third one would protect our reserve of food and weapons.
Finishing giving instructions, the sergeant took of with the latter group.
I was given the task of the middle group, so I sprinted with twelve other soldiers towards the main base of the camp, musket at hand.
Whilst running I reloaded the modified musket and loaded a special cartridge, whilst in the camp, I took the opportunity to make special bullets containing (KI), which in contact with the elves blood, would make a violent chemical reaction, the workings of it were still unknown to me, but I learned chemical reaction in this world followed other rules, making possible much more "flamboyant" results.
After we arrived at the camp, we found ourselves in front of a violent shooting, we dashed and slide towards cover after shooting unfocused soldiers, blue blood spilled everywhere.
- Reinforcements arrived, expecting orders, sir!
- Cover us while we rushed towards them, there are approximately 9 enemy soldiers, 2 are wounded and 1 died from the shots you did, now, at the count of 5.
- 1
- 2
- 3
- 4
- Go!
6 soldiers stood up swords at hands, as they stood up me and the other recruits prepared each other and fired towards the elves, making a temporary cover for our allies to rush towards them.
As the elves reloaded their arches, our men already arrived and using aura, cut down 5 of them.
Screams broke out, blood spilled, the last elf knowing his situation covered his last arrow in aura and shot it towards them.
* Bang *
A white light covered us, my ears were bleeding and a buzz was echoing in my mind, but I didn´t close my eyes, as I recovered my vision, the 6 brave soldiers were no more than puddles of blood and lose limbs spamming over the ground.
My fellow recruits recovering slightly after my were horrified from this sight, one of them puked whilst the other started crying in silence.
But, instead of mourning the dead of brave soldiers, they should have noticed the surviving elf climbing up from the rumble.
Both our sides looked at each other.
We knew the elf was severely injured, but we were still on the losing side.
The reason being.
The elf had awoken his will.
Creatures could use Aura before awakening, it was hard but it still possible, the benefits of learning how to use Aura were explosive, the moment one awoken his sensibility and natural affinity towards it would increase dramatically.
The elven soldier in front of us decimated 6 soldiers with a single arrow shot while severely injured.
The 9 cadets and me had different reactions, some lamented to their cruel fate, some cursed the world and aimed their muskets towards the elf.
Me?
I prepared to kill the bastard.
