Marcus was leaving his office when he almost collided into Olivia, who was standing in front of the door.
"Olivia." He cried, looking at her in surprise.
Olivia smiled wearily, brushing a loose strand of her hair from her face, and tucking it behind her ear. As Marcus watched her, a strange feeling came over him as he felt his heart do a summersault and speed up within his chest, making his ribcage hurt and his stomach churned. The only times Marcus had ever known the feeling of hurt in his entire existence were on the battlefield. And yet, here he was, not at war but aching. It felt like he was being shot in one spot by a million tiny arrows, and it even though it ached, it didn't feel bad at all. The pain was filling him with a strange kind of pleasure.
Marcus quickly took his eyes off Olivia and looked away.
