Friendship is when the both parties care for each other but in this one, I cared less. After making plans with my new-only-friend I couldn't even put it in my schedule, do I really deserve her? Oh Lord, give me the heart to care about people... again.
I walked on the silver sand barefooted as I approached Jennifer who was wearing a hot blue bikini and hat, at the sight of me, she smiled and I did same.
"You made it" Jennifer pegged me with quick embrace.
"Sorry I came late" We pulled away from each other.
I had to use my phone google tracker and track Jennifer's current location else I wouldn't have known of our plan.
I followed beside her as we proceed to a small shady umbrella that had two beach seats with already served Tropicana and sliced orange on the straw.
"What took you so long?" Jennifer asked as we sat on the seats.
"I went on a date" I said bluntly.
"You got a man already?" Jennifer teased and I blushed.
"Not really. We are only getting to know each other" I rattled out.
"Oh really, tell me more" Jennifer sipped from the tropicana.
"He is so handsome, I felt like home and secured. I'm free with him and also... he's just too cute" I described abstractly with smile on my face.
"Just today and you're falling already" Jennifer mocked me and I took a sip from the Tropicana.
"At least he's better than my ex" I snorted.
"True. I'm happy for you" Jennifer said.
"How about you? Did you meet with your hubby?" I asked.
"Not really. We crossed path at the head office but only said Hi, he was damn busy though" Jennifer frowned.
"It's great that you understand him" I smiled.
"Oh really, does he understand me for once?" Jennifer asked as if annoyed which made me surprised.
"As in... his your man and of course, he understands you" I assured.
"Can I tell you a secret?" Jennifer leaned closer to me and I nodded anxiously.
The cool wave from the flowing sea flushes on our face making our hair to brush our face, we pushed our hair to the side of our ear, the chants from the children and lovers echoes loudly in the beach, it wasn't bad coming here... at least we had peace of mind at the moment.
"I started dating my boyfriend 2 years ago or more, it was sweeter, interesting and romantic... I didn't want to leave, I enjoyed spending time with him but all of a sudden... he changed" Jennifer started sadly and I listened.
"Since we started dating, I haven't kissed or had sex with him... we were always talking about business progress, success, new deals and all of it, I fuckingly lost the man I met earlier" I couldn't hold myself, I had to laugh hardly but it didn't last.
"But.. I guess it's a matter of time before I gain him back" Jennifer sniffled assuring herself and I nodded without word as I was enjoying the sweet tropicana.
"Don't you have anything to say to me?" Jennifer asked.
"What do you want to hear? You know I don't do love" I paused.
"But I wish you luck in whatever you are doing and of course every man would want to have a kind-hearted lady as you are" I assured with smile on my face and she beamed.
"I wish you same... babe" Jennifer winked and continue sipping her drink, I exhaled and quietly relaxed on the seat enjoying the cool breeze.
After the lovely ride back home, I wished Jennifer a sweet night and went straight into my room.
I wasn't feeling myself as I couldn't identify where I was standing in life.
I lay flat on my bed and my thoughts run wild, if I wasn't mistaken I sighed almost ten times. I rolled and lay sideways then my phone rang, I collected it from the bedside table.
"Hello.." I said somnolent.
"Hey babe, are you home now?" at the sound of his voice, my sleep disappeared and I saw myself sitting upright on the bed.
"Yes babe. I'm home" I smiled.
"How was the plan?" Nathan asked.
"Was cool. We went to the beach to clear our head" I said.
"Nice one. Will see you in school then?" Nathan said rhetorically and I smiled.
"Yes dear" I nodded.
"Can we meet at the school park?" Nathan asked.
Was this another date or something?
"Sure, I'll meet you there" I assured.
"Good night, babe. Love you" Nathan said and I remained speechless till he ended the call.
I love you? Really? He loves me?
All my sad thinking disappeared and I slept like a baby smiling softly.
The next morning, I did my usual morning routine and prepared for school but today I wore a midi Louis Vitton bag and stepped out of my room.
I saw Jennifer speaking with that driver, the one I almost fell for and after some minute the man bowed and left... reaching where I was, he smiled at me and leaves, I approached Jennifer.
"Good morning babe" I greeted with smile on my face.
"Morning babe. How was your night?" Jenny asked.
"Great and yours?" I asked.
"Fine" Jenny nodded.
"Who was that?" I raised a brow.
"That was my hubby's driver, he left me a message" Jenny said.
"Another date?" I chirped in excitement.
"Nope. He's going to London" Jenny said sadly.
"Business trip?" I said in a low sad tone.
"Yes but it came up all of a sudden, I would have gone with him" Jenny frown.
"You're missing him already" I teased and she slapped my shoulder playfully, and we laughed heartily.
With smile on my face listening to Flashlight by Jessie J, I hopped into the university hallway heading to my first class when some group of student approach me, I lowered the music volume and stare at them anxiously.
"Hey dear" a dark guy with dread called and I nodded in response.
"How can I help you all?" I said sarcastically and a lady in their midst smirked.
"Do you think she suit the Juliet role?" a tall beautiful lady with wavy dark brown hair, fair skinned looking hotter than the latest celebrity in NY with her light yellow eyes... she does suit the whole drama role.
"I.. I don't want it you know" I rattled out.
"We shall see" Before I could say anything, they dragged me to their center and we walked down another route far away from my lecture hall... I couldn't struggle away from them.
The big nameplate on the wall had ART HALL on it and I walked into the hall with them and stay stunned at a spot.
Tons of beautiful ladies and gentle men were already present selecting their costumes, rehearsing their lines and discussing the scenes, why does this lecturer need me when there are so much talent here?
Still glued on a spot Mr. Wilson approached me holding a smile on his face, his forehead folds in triple lines.
"Miss. Ganes" He called.
"Good day sir" I greeted.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"Sir, this doesn't suit me. I'm a science student and..." I began but he cut me off.
"Shush! You are the perfect character for this play and mind you, if you do well your first class award is assured" He assured me vividly and I exhaled deeply.
I didn't have to think twice after hearing the cool offer.
"Where's the script?" I asked.
"First you need to meet your Romeo" He said as we began walking deeper into the bustling hall.
Who will be my Romeo?
