Chapter 2 - Falling for a demon

Emperor Kan squinted as a flow of bright light hit his eyes that felt sore from been closed for such a long time.

When he looked around he found that he was still in his tent and beside him lay the prettiest creature he had ever laid eyes on... He had been previlaged to see two goddesses but her beauty couldn't be compared, the goddesses looked heavenly, pure yet exuded so much power that your eyes feel scared to look them in the eyes but the woman that lay beside him was different, the more you look at her the more you feel you haven't seen enough of her striking beauty that carried with it an air of impending danger but that didn't matter cause he could forever stare. He had seen her the other night buh under the Illumination of the Earth's light she looked wild yet pure.

As if feeling his stare she arose rubbing her groggy eyes before acknowledging his presence.

"You're awake?."

How are you feeling?" She asked curiously, without waiting for a reply she placed her fragile hand on his forehead to check his temperature and then his wrist to get his pulse.

"You look fine." She concluded to herself.

He just stared at her amused at her seemingly naviety and carefree nature. Did she know who he was or was she just pretending? He for sure knew everyone in the demon realm knew who he was, an arch enemy they've fought for thousands of years and now when the opportunity presented itself to have him killed she choose to save him? Maybe it was some kind of elaborate scheme but he couldn't think of a scheme more elaborate than it resulting in his own death.

"Why'd you save me?" Emperor Kan questioned with a Stern look.

"You saved me, I had to return the favor so don't stare at me like that you look like an angry monster" she replied giving him a side eye.

"Do you know who I am?" He dared to ask risking giving up his identity if she didn't already recognize him.

"Who cares? You saved me, I saved so we're now even. You can go your way and I mine so it doesn't matter." She quickly responded as she parked her hair in a bun.

"What's your name?" Emperor Kan asked.

"I don't tell strange men my name." She replied with a childish grin.

Emperor kan couldn't tell if she was pretending not to know him but Whoever this girl was she was messing with his head especially with smiles like that. No one had been that free with him in a very very long time, everyone acted with courtesy and respect that he no one dared mess around with him buh here he was listening to Demon say whatever she wanted to him.

"As soon as you're well recovered I'll be on my way. Although you tried killing me yesterday I'll forgive that because I ate all the food you had packed up in here." She said pointing at a bag made with cowries. without waiting for his response she picked herself from the ground and walked out, allowing him to see the colour and embroidery on her dress which looked like that of a maid. although the seven realms and the demon realm never see eye to eye they had a few things in common, like the sort of embroidery different ranking officers/servants used only that the dark realm used darker sombre colours.

For the next two days she stayed by his side nursing him back to health, unlike the first day she had grown less talkative seeing that he tried to inquire about her background and where she came from, he had however stopped trying to find out anything seeing that she didn't seem to care about who he was. Slowly they got close, sharing few things in common. their favorite color was the same, she loved gazing at the stars and so did her but strangely enough he had learnt that she couldn't stand loud noise which included music.

eight lights had passed when the imperial guardian appeared to him in a trance. he knew his haunting expedition which he usually carried out from time to time had to come to an end for the time being.

He had begged her to come meet with him when next he came into the forest, promising to give her a sign that he was around. He knew he was dumb for wanting to trust a demon but whatever restrictions he had his heart had betrayed him to risk it all.

"See you soon Emperor Kan." She whispered in to his ears as he crossed over into the 7 realms, he was taken aback that she knew exactly who he was but before he could say anything more he had been transported back.
