Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

"Yaaaawn..."

Having checked every room and discovered where Isabella was, Damien returned to the security room.

The security footage was top-notch compared to the previous restaurant. Not only are they more detailed and at a higher resolution, but they also don't glitch out as much as the previous ones. One time, he even had to fix an old security camera.

They say it's a security job, but really, he sometimes has to clean the place, fix the cameras and doors, and do many other things. Granted, that explains the relatively high salary.

Damien sat on the swivel chair and let out a sigh of relief. And he immediately spun for a single cycle. It made not a single sound.

'Brand new as well, not bad.' He spun around for a few more moments before returning his attention to the security footage. He had no intentions of cleaning the place for today and decided to do it tomorrow.

There was nothing noteworthy on the security footage, as expected. Damien didn't really expect anything to happen, as he was already used to the incredibly boring security guard job in his previous restaurant. Still, occasionally, for just a moment, he glances at Lisa in the security footage. Perhaps, he thought, something might happen. Maybe it wasn't his lack of sleep, perhaps it wasn't his hallucination.

But alas, nothing happened.

This continued for the next three hours, with the only sound the place emitting being the screech of the cameras moving, and the dripping of water from outside after the storm had calmed down.

...

"Hmm..." Damien groaned as he glanced at one of the cameras. Nothing was happening there.

"Hmm..." Again, he glanced at another camera. Nothing as well.

"Hmm...!" He looked at another one, and once again, nothing noteworthy.

Sighing, Damien rubbed his temples in annoyance. 'What is this?' he thought, 'Why is this much more boring than the other restaurant?'

He didn't know why, but his boredom was reaching critical levels, even more so than usual. He should already be used to it, and yet, he feels incredibly bored and restless.

He thought that he'd be able to pass the time with the manual, but he even finished that.

'Is it because of that animatronic?' He turned towards the showroom camera, more specifically, at Lisa. She stood there, motionless, staring at the wall.

The thought that it might be alive endlessly bugged him. It wasn't that it scared him, but it simply intrigued him. That was it.

If he saw that thing moving even when it was turned off, he should undoubtedly be horrified. But he wasn't, for whatever reason. There was no fear, only curiosity. He wanted to investigate if it was turned on or anything of that sort.

But Damien remembered the saying 'Curiosity killed the cat.' and decided against it.

He lazily picked up his phone, and scrolled around it for a few moments, thinking that he might actually clean this place to get rid of this boredom. He was willing to do anything at this point, instead of just sitting here and keep staring at Lisa, hoping she would do something.

Not that it was boring to look at her, he just didn't want his mind to get those disgusting thoughts again. He didn't have intentions of screwing the robot, but he was scared that he might change his mind if he kept staring at it.

Just as he was about to turn down his phone, he noticed something. In his Instant Messaging App, there was a notification. Curious, he checked it out.

-Shiiiiiiit, I look horrible in these filters.

-LMAO! IDK what you're talking about, you look fabulous.

-Check Damien out, dude be looking like a demon out of hell with the filter ong.

They were messages from his friends. It seems they sent them at around 10 pm, but he didn't bother to even check them out. They put on a bunch of filters on their group pictures and a few on individuals. He let out a chuckle as he looked at the ridiculous pictures of his friends with the filters on, but his smile immediately ceased once he found his own picture.

He glanced at the messages of his friends on his photo.

-Man even with the filter he looks alright tbh. Way better than mine at least.

-Yeeee though, isn't he self-conscious about his looks?

-Yeah idk why. Dude looks alright even with filter, his eyes look amazing. What is there to be conscious about lmao. If I was a girl I'd probably do it with him.

-Nah fam just admit you're gay.

-Shut up. Where tf is he anyways?

-He said he was getting ready for the new job at this new club. Heard it had some sort of sex animatronics ;-) Dude probably plowing them rn. Though the place apparently never opened for long, only a few days.

-Damn lucky bastard.

Damien kept reading the messages, emotionless. He quickly scrolled back to his photo, and inspected it. He works out often, so his body was quite lean and muscular, and he was rather tall. Still, he didn't care about that.

'Self-Conscious?' He thought, 'What is there to be self-conscious about?'

'What eyes, what face is there to even be self-conscious about?'

Despite his friends' compliments about his looks, Damien didn't feel anything from it. For in that photo, there were no eyes, no mouth, no nose, no ears, nothing. It was a faceless face. His hair was there, and his body was there, but there was no face.

He didn't mean it metaphorically. There literally was no face there.

Damien clenched his phone, hard, before slowly turning towards the window in the security room. His reflection was barely visible, but it was there. His body was there, his clothes were there, and his hair was there.

But just like the photo.

There was no face.

It was like a drawing of a person, and the artist just removed the face with an eraser.

Damien let out an annoyed sigh and ran a hand through his hair. How long has it been like that? He didn't know. He thought he had a face when he was a child, but for some reason, he cannot recall how it looked like at all, or if he actually even had one, to begin with.

He grumpily cursed under his breath and depressingly glanced at the security footage.

'...?'

Where was Lisa?
