Chapter 28 - There is nothing more annoying than unconscious position talk

I had just joined forces with Ms. Moridori.

Today, I was dressed in a casual outfit of a shirt and jeans, rather than my usual suit. Looking like a healthy and beautiful person in their late teens or early twenties.

I had taken off my glasses, which I usually wear, and was wearing contact lenses today.

I put on my sales smile and bowed my head.

"Nice to meet you from today."

"Oh!? I've been looking forward to it! Nice to meet you too!"

She welcomed me by tapping my shoulder.

I was a little uncomfortable with the amount of body touch that Aunt-san was giving, but I didn't break my smile.

The dirty old man and the part-time Aunt have an extremely small personal space.

This is meticulous.

"I've got a car ready over there, so let's just hop in! You haven't had lunch, have you?"

"Thank you. I haven't had lunch yet."

I didn't have time to have lunch. Or rather, food and drinks are generally not allowed on the plane until Onogoro. VIPs and patients seemed to be an exception.

I felt a little disappointed that there was still a class society in this other world.

I flipped off capitalism and aristocratic society in my mind.

"Okay! There's a good cheap restaurant in town!"

"That sounds exciting."

My smiling skill, honed through sales, was perfect.

I was sure I could act like a good young man.

"Great to see you're looking forward to it! Let's go, let's go!" said Moridori-san as he pushed me from behind.

"By the way, Amachi-kun, there were quite a lot of packages sent to you by mail, and they pretty much filled up your room," he added.

"Yeah, there were a few things I had to send for my bass and survival gear," I replied.

"Got it. Well, after lunch, I'll take you on a tour of the town. Then we'll have a welcome party at home. There are only two of us, so we can't offer anything too fancy, but please treat it as your own home!" Moridori-san said, with a bright smile on his face.

I felt a bit guilty seeing how happy he was to have me here. Maybe I should adjust my opinion of her. After all, I paid off his debts and apologized to the shopkeepers in the market.

"Sure, I'm looking forward to it. I'd appreciate it if you could lend me a part of your garden, Moridori -san. It doesn't have to be anything big, just a spot to build my own private room," I said.

"Sure, no problem. Are you planning to grow something? I studied herbology, so I can teach you a bit about it," Moridori-san replied.

"Really? That's great. By the way, Moridori-san, are you good with herbs and such?" I asked.

"Yes, I am. That's pretty much my only special skill. But I can whip up a basic elixir in no time!" Moridori-san replied.

"Oh, I see. So you specialize in alchemy? I have a knack for it too, but I have terrible crafting abilities, so I might need your help from time to time," I said.

"Absolutely. I look forward to your continued guidance and instruction. As a novice, I am not well-versed in alchemy."

"Oh come on! Don't be so formal. I'll even teach you how to make antidotes, paralysis remedies, and potions!"

I know how to make them, but I can't actually do it.

"I see. Well, then, nice to meet you, Moridori-san."

"Oh! You can think of me as family!"

After leaving the airport, I had lunch with Moridori-san and had some small talk. Then, we walked around the commercial district as she showed me around.

"And this is the place where you mainly buy goods. But be careful, as all the commercial districts close by 11.00 PM "

"Wow."

"Onogoro is under Hinomoto jurisdiction, but the entertainment law is strict. There are many differences from Tokyo, so you might be confused at first."

"I can't just go out to buy a late-night snack, you know. That's new information. It wasn't in the game."

"That's a residential area, but only wealthy people live there, so you won't go there often."

Moridori-san pointed to the residential area beyond the commercial district.

From here, it looks like an ordinary residential area, but even a normal detached house costs billions of yen. It's an ultra-rich area.

Damn it! I want to buy a house there someday too.

If the game's story is correct, the protagonist Kazane is the chosen one who will complete a harem mansion with the heroines there. I'm envious and about to cry.

As for me? I'm practically homeless.

This is the difference between supporting and main roles. It's damn frustrating.

Even here, there's a difference in status. I knew it, but it still pisses me off.

Trying to remain calm, I said, "I see. It doesn't seem like fate will bring me there..."

"Huh? Why are you making such a scary face?"

"Oh, really? My bad."

I can't let my inner thoughts show on my face. I need more training. This is why I probably had the worst sales performance.

Crushed in spirit.

A smile is important.

"Well then, shall we go?"

"...Yes."

I put on the best face I could muster, trying not to look unhappy.

Then, someone whom I knew well from the game called out to Moridori-san.

I was inwardly amazed. "Wow!"

She's a beautiful elf in tight pants and a tight shirt, with long, pretty, light purple hair tied back and an intelligent, strong-willed woman with glasses that exude an aura of capability.

I know this woman well. She's the consultant of the strongest party that has given me trouble countless times in games.

"U-Um, senpai. Long time no see," says Moridori-san, who seems to be uncomfortable with this person and is now behaving suspiciously different from before.

"I hear you finally got your own subordinate. I've heard the rumors," I say, scratching my hair, and a pleasant fragrance fills the air.

"Wh-what? Yes," she says.

"It was a close call. Shinrin was the top candidate to be fired. Well, who knows how long that'll last," the glasses beauty says with a wicked smile.

"That was just luck. I got lucky," says Moridori-san.

"At least do your best, deadweight," the glasses beauty says.

"Yes, yes," Moridori-san shrinks back.

These kinds of people exist. She feels like a nasty office lady. It's a little disappointing.

"What about him?" the glasses elf asks, turning her gaze to me.

"Well, about that...," Moridori-san says, pulling the glasses woman away from me and whispering something to her.

The glasses woman quickly pales while Moridori-san seems to be proud of herself.

"What are you guys talking about?" the glasses elf looks at me again and becomes suspicious, letting out a big sigh and leaving the place unsteadily.

Moridori-san comes back to me.

"Well, let's go, Amachi-kun," Moridori-san says, grinning and glancing at the back of the glasses elf.

"Um, what about the person from before?" I ask stupidly.

"I see. That person is my former colleague and senior. They've been promoted now, so we don't have much to do with them. We just happened to meet each other. Onogoro's commercial district is small, so it's common," she says.

Indeed, the commercial district is small. You could walk around all the blocks in a day. You can even limit the routes you take if you go to reasonably priced stores.

It's obvious that families on vacation or people who seem to be students from Mahoro are around.

I see. It's not a good idea to wander around here too much.

If you want to go shopping, you should use online shopping, or it might be a hassle, but you might need to go down to the lower world once.

"I see," I say, and Moridori-san doesn't say anything more.

I don't feel like asking any more questions.

I know a beautiful elf with glasses, her name is Ryuu Malley.

She's the adviser to the strongest party led by Suguru, consisting of five members including the student council president.

Fighting against this party in the game was incredibly challenging.

They had a well-balanced lineup with support members that had a wide range of combos.

Actually, they had some really unfair combos.

The student council president had a ridiculously powerful combo called the "Poison Rock Sanctuary Combo" which could take down enemies single-handedly.

Their battles with this party during limited-time events were even studied on Wiki.

An ordinary party would stand no chance against them.

Their close and long-range high-damage poison, paralysis, curse, and self-destruct tactics were extremely cunning and despicable, yet effective.

Dealing with them was a huge pain and made me incredibly frustrated.

"Well, shall we go then?"

Moridori-san tried to link arms with me, but I dodged away.

"Huh?"

Moridori-san looked surprised.

"It's getting dark, so let's head back to my place."

"Your place...sounds nice," I thought to myself.

Come to think of it, I've been alone in this world and my previous life.

It's not a bad thought to have someone to spend time with.
