"I am hungry, Mom." A hungry and thirsty kid said to his mom. The surroundings around them looked like that of a desert. There were huts near them but they had holes on their roof and the doors were broken.
"I am sorry... for making you.. go through all this.." The mother said. She was more thirsty than the child. She had given her share of food and water to her child.
This was the scenario of the whole village. They hadn't drunk or eaten anything for days. They were at the doorsteps.
This village was called Hington Village. A particular village located in the deserted or unbarren region of the Cherian Empire, The Human Realm.
The Empire was supposed to give them food and water as the king had promised them that for their support. But after some years of support, the path leading to this village was soon blocked by monsters. The paths leading to this village were only a few.
The king used this as an excuse to stop giving supplies to the village's people. The people were angry at the king but couldn't show it due to their current dying state.
The people didn't even have the strength to cry.... seeing their loved ones dying painfully in front of them.
The woman who was holding her child on her lap saw someone entering the village. The person has yellow hair. A smooth white skin and red eyes. He was wearing clothes the same as the people, torn off and withered. He had a bag on his back which looked full. He was radiating off an aura of divinity. If any people looked at him for the first time, they would think of him as some saviour.
"Son.. wait here..." The mother said as she stood up and walked towards the person. She could do anything right now to feed her hungry child.
The person walked towards the well and stood near it. She decided to push him into the well and kill him. He would die when he falls down inside the well. Later, she would also go down to collect his belongings.
The man picked up a bucket near the well. The woman thought this man was an idiot after guessing what he was trying to do. The man looked at the woman and ignored her and threw the bucket into the well.
The bucket was tied with a rope and the man held the end of the rope.
'Can't he see the surroundings around him?' She thought. The village had basically become a desert and the well had dried weeks ago.
When the bucket reached the bottom of the well, the woman stood behind the man and got ready. She was stuttering now. The man this time started pulling up the bucket. The bucket looked heavy.
The woman now looked shocked. Many thoughts ran in her mind.
'Was there water in the well all this time?'
'Is he acting?'
The person pulled it up finally and there it was. A bucket of water. The woman snatched it and started drinking it.
She was hungry and thirsty for several days. Her body had become like that of a skeleton. She finally felt alive after feeling the water inside of her throat.
She drank the whole bucket without realising.
"Don't you think, you should give some to your son?" The man spoke for the first time.
The woman realised the mistake she had made, and had a face of despair. Her son was her only family. Her husband had died two days ago because he had became a bandit to bring food for the family.
*chuckle*
The man gave a slight chuckle.
"Don't worry. It's normal for a person to think of themselves before others in the time of suffering." He said as he hid the bucket behind him. The woman looked at him with pleading eyes.
The man then brought the bucket in front of the woman. The bucket now had water inside it again.
At this point, the villagers started gathering around the person. Their eyes were fixed on him. They couldn't believe it. The miracle which they were saying.
"This bucket won't be enought to quench all of your thirst." He said as if looking sad. The villagers at that moment felt as if the ray of hope that they had seen was gone.
"I think you should drink from here." The person said as he pointed towards the well. The villagers again couldn't believe their eyes. The well, it was overflowing with water.
The villagers jumped and pushed each other. They didn't care how they were drank. They just wanted to quench their thirst.
The man started to walk away from there. His work here was almost done.
"Wait!" The woman earlier shouted. The man stopped but he didn't turn back.
"Thanks for saving my son and everybody's lives but what is your name?" She asked.
"My mother once said that I looked similar to the sun. Is that really true? I thought." He said.
"I think that's true. You were the one who helped us. You were like the sun to us just now, shining on us and giving us your light. I am very sorry that we don't have anything to offer to you." The woman said as she looked down. She didn't know what she could do for this man.
"Forget that. Some people will come to this village. They will help you." He said he started walking faster than before.
"Wait! You didn't tell us your name!" She shouted. If they couldn't do anything for him, then they could atleast remember their saviour's name. Their king had forsaken them but this person saved their dying lives.
"I don't have a name so call me anything you like." He looked back and smiled. He looked like an angel shining under the sun. An angel without wings.
