Chapter 3 - Doubts and a New Friend

Kiyoshi couldn't stop thinking about the offer to join the Crimson Syndicate. Part of him was drawn to the idea of power and protection, but another part of him was terrified of the consequences. He didn't know what to do.

As he walked home from school, he saw a girl sitting alone on a bench. She had long, dark hair and was reading a book. Kiyoshi recognized her from his English class, but they had never spoken before.

He hesitated for a moment before approaching her. "Hey," he said awkwardly.

The girl looked up, surprised. "Oh, hi. You're Kiyoshi, right?"

Kiyoshi nodded. "Yeah. I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name."

The girl smiled. "I'm Yuna. We have English class together."

Kiyoshi felt a little more at ease. Yuna seemed friendly and approachable, and he was grateful for the distraction from his own thoughts.

They chatted for a few minutes about school and classes, and Kiyoshi found himself opening up to her about the offer from the Crimson Syndicate. To his surprise, Yuna didn't judge him or try to persuade him one way or the other. She simply listened and offered her support.

"I know it's a tough decision," she said. "But just remember that you have a choice. You don't have to do anything that you're not comfortable with."

Kiyoshi felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He realized that he had been so caught up in the gang's offer that he had forgotten that he had a say in his own life.

"Thanks, Yuna," he said gratefully. "I really appreciate your advice."

Yuna smiled. "Of course. And hey, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here."

Kiyoshi felt a warmth in his chest. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he had made a real friend. He knew that the decision about the gang would still be a difficult one, but he also knew that he didn't have to face it alone.

Kiyoshi and Yuna continued talking for a while longer, getting to know each other better. They discovered that they had a lot in common, including a love for music and a shared interest in video games.

As they parted ways, Kiyoshi felt a sense of relief. He was still uncertain about the gang's offer, but he knew that he had made a good friend in Yuna.

Over the next few days, Kiyoshi tried to focus on school and his hobbies, but his mind kept returning to the gang's offer. He found himself constantly weighing the pros and cons, trying to decide what was the right choice.

One day, as he was leaving school, he saw a group of boys approaching him. He recognized them as members of the Crimson Syndicate, including Tekuru.

"Hey, Kiyoshi," Tekuru said, a sly grin on his face. "Have you made your decision yet?"

Kiyoshi felt a knot form in his stomach. He didn't want to show any weakness in front of the gang, but he also didn't want to make a decision he would regret.

"I'm still thinking about it," he said cautiously.

Tekuru's grin faded slightly, and Kiyoshi felt a flicker of fear. But before anything more could be said, a familiar voice interrupted them.

"Hey, leave him alone."

Kiyoshi turned to see Yuna walking towards them, her chin held high and her eyes blazing with determination.

The gang members sneered at her, but Yuna stood her ground. "Kiyoshi is free to make his own choices," she said firmly. "You have no right to pressure him."

Tekuru scoffed. "And who are you to tell us what to do?"

Yuna didn't flinch. "I'm a friend of Kiyoshi's. And I won't let anyone bully him."

The Crimson Syndicate members glared at Yuna, but they didn't move to attack her. Kiyoshi was surprised by her bravery and grateful for her protection.

Yuna turned to Kiyoshi and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you," she said with a small smile.

Kiyoshi felt a surge of gratitude and admiration for Yuna. He knew that he needed to make a decision about his future, but he also knew that he didn't want to do it alone.

"Yuna," Kiyoshi said hesitantly, "will you help me choose a path?"

Yuna nodded, her expression serious. "Of course," she said. "We'll figure this out together."

As they walked away from the Crimson Syndicate members, Kiyoshi felt a sense of relief that he wasn't alone in this. He knew that whatever decision he made, Yuna would be there to support him.
