Chapter 118 - Volume 3 Chapter 34: Embarking on a New Path

(Walson)

When it's still bright and early in the morning, the time that only the merchant would usually be awake at and prepare their store, I was already on my way to [Eye of The Night Cat] base all by myself.

There is nothing insidious behind my action, there is no plot, I went to them with the pure intention of bidding them all a farewell.

After a simple meal with them, I told them about the matter of me taking a vacation with the rest of the [Dog House], the [Eyes of The Night Cat] members of the group bid me goodbye, except for Mira, who curled up in a corner and turned into a Poké Ball...

I still don't get these elves, why do both you and Barella curl up into a ball when you both went hysterical?

Is this some kind of special habit of yours!?

The Little dog-eared Nita was on the verge of tears upon hearing the news of my leave... Damn it, now i feel bad

But beside those two, the rest of the members seems to have no eccentric reaction, since arewells like this aren't a big deal for guild members since we can easily stay in touch with our family rings.

As for Paul, he gave me a bag of apples as a farewell gift.

...Honestly, I thought there were no fruits like this in this world because their names are different. They're called "Tears of Red" and come from the secluded kingdom of Mahamatra.

No wonder I've been overlooking them... The terrain of that country is too rugged, with few merchants passing through. It's normal for there to be incomplete information about their products.

Paul had these because an adventurer from the mountainous bridge came to the inn and used apples as payment for his stay, so he had this bag of apples.

Apples, huh? They can be used for many things, but I'll deal with them later. Now I know I won't be bored on the journey.

After putting the apples in my waist pouch, I returned to the Dog House.

The Wolf Wagon was already parked at the entrance, and Rifle was leisurely eating breakfast from his bowl in front of it.

"You idiot Walson, you're up early." "Good morning, Barella." She wasn't even awake when I left...

After turning her into a Poké Ball as well, I walked over to the Wolf Wagon and began the final inspection.

About the Wolf Wagon... I have to explain that a bit. As I mentioned before, the structure of the Wolf Wagon incorporates redstone circuits, allowing it to move independently even when Rifle is tired.

When Rifle gets tired from pulling the wagon, he can jump onto the roof to rest. That was the original design, but when I expanded the Wolf Wagon for Barella, I thought I should also give Rifle a resting space instead of having him lie on the roof.

So I made some changes and added a new compartment at the rear of the Wolf Wagon. In addition to providing space for Barella's activities, the new compartment has a sizable area for Rifle to sleep in.

Both compartments are roughly the same size, three meters wide, three meters high, and five meters long.

You might say it's too heavy, so I also added redstone-assisted power. Furthermore, both of these connected wagons have their own driver's cabins, with independent driving systems. In other words, if there's an issue, they can detach and operate as two separate vehicles.

I also put some effort into the chassis, considering that we might encounter deserts or swamps on this journey. I reinforced the bearings and shock absorbers and used the thick skin of the Thorn Crocodile I bought from the market, combined with black iron powder, to enhance the hardness. I made hollow tires that need to be inflated, and the style is off-road tires.

They don't require much additional processing. The crocodile skin has many spikes, and with these spikes, I don't have to worry about traction issues. The hardness is also not a problem since it was reinforced with black iron.

Inflating them is also simple. I added wind magic stones inside the crocodile tires and simply infused them with magic.

Using crocodile skin for tires... It feels like more than just luxury... But as a result, I created tires that are both flexible and hard. The tires alone are half my height, not bad.

"Thump, thump, thump." After finishing the inspection, I heard the sound of tapping on the glass.

It was Barella, greeting me excitedly through the window. I don't know when she got on the wagon... Her recovery ability is really good, considering she was just a traumatized Poké Ball a moment ago.

...She really looks like a child taking a train for the first time.

Looking through the window, Grace was lying on her small bed, silently doing algebra calculations and practicing her mathematical skills.

Melon was sitting on her bed, her focus was entirely occupied by the book in her hand, when i take a closer look, i noticed that the book is something that the bookstore often sold for the children so they can memorize and write more words

Looks like they're ready.

"Awoo! Awoo, woof!" Rifle saw me approaching and wagged his tail excitedly, stirring up dust on the ground with the gust of wind.

Although he's a super-sized wolf with a body length of over three meters, his actions are just like a small dog.

"Good boy, good boy." I put the harness on him and let Rifle eat the cured meat in my hand. He licked my hand, still wanting more.

I climbed into the driver's seat, checked the direction, and the Dog House slowly began to move.

Along the way, many residents came to bid farewell. Among the crowd, I saw a woman with beautiful silver hair waving at me with a radiant smile.

"See you in a few months, Derisha." I waved back at her, and we both smiled knowingly.

And so, the troubled employees of the Dog House set off on their journey back to their homeland.
