Chapter 1 - 1

"But here's the thing, sil'nyy odin,"

(Strong one)

"You owe me a lot of money, and I'm getting impatient." The petrified man struggles against the rope holding his hands back as I take out my gun and point it at his head.

"I just need more time! I'll have your money!" He yelps in fear. Men are so pathetic. I lower my gun and move closer so my face is inches away from his. "You have one week. Don't disappoint me."

Upon my command, a soldier begins to untie my client. "What a bitch," I hear him mumble under his breath as I walk out.

See what I mean? I have the power to kill him in a heartbeat and he still has no respect for me.

"What'd you say?" I ask, turning around to face him.

He looks down at me hungrily. "Maybe I could pay you in some other way," I scoff in his face. This bastard must think I'm dumb.

"Hard labor for fifteen years? Cause that's how much you owe me." He very bravely takes a step closer to me. Oh, you think you can step to me, huh?

I take my gun back out and point it at his groin.

"Take a step closer and you won't be able to have kids," I say while staring him in his face, not an ounce of fear in my gaze. "Look, baby-"

Bam, bam!

I shoot him in the groin twice, startling the nearest soldier. "Get this piece of shit out of my compound." The smell of alcohol was starting to bug me.

A tall man with white-blond hair and emerald green eyes dressed in a three-piece black suit walks into the room.

"Yelena, a gang in Hell's Kitchen captured unit and is currently being held hostage," My Consigliere, Viktor Rum says, staring at the client as he's being dragged away.

I'd know that thick Russian accent anywhere. I and Viktor grew up together, mainly because his parents were good friends with mine, so naturally, he was traded into the mafia.

He leads me out of the dark room and across the hall to my office. What gang has the audacity to kill one of my units?

"Pull up their cams," I say, sitting at my desk. A secret camera is planted in all of my soldiers' uniforms when they sign my contract.

Viktor takes a remote and turns on the projector. "They call themselves Kansaw Klan." He says, pulling up a video.

It shows an upside-down picture of what looks like a basement. "Grayson, get my knife," someone out of view says.

"Oh, I know a Grayson from that area, If I'm not mistaken," I say, picking up my office phone. He mutes the projector and hands me my phone book. I swiftly dial a number and hand him back the massive book as the line rings a few times.

"Hello?" Someone says after a few seconds. "Hey, Grayson! It's your friend from R.O.M." I say in a joyful voice.

"I assume you're calling about that team?"

"I am! It'd be a shame if my team said anything about the woman on top of the pyramid. It'd also be a shame if said team did talk and a certain woman and her two children were found dead days later."

"...how can I help?"

I smile at Viktor and give him a nod. "Tell me, do you have any weapons on you?"

"Of course I do."

"Good. Take out the people holding the team hostage and we'll be there in a few minutes."

Me, Viktor, and two soldiers pull up to a dark alleyway, surrounded by abandoned buildings and the sun's setting on the horizon.

Before getting out, I put a pistol in my thigh holster and a knife in my bra. I'll have no hesitation to blow off someone's head.

"Very dramatic, no?" Viktor says as he rolls up his window. I snort and we climb out of the car.

"Alright, men. I'm aware that you're new volunteers, and I know that you'll prove yourselves useful tonight... right?"

They all nod and we pull our guns out. "Check the doors and shoot on sight!" I yell as my team splits up.

"Doors are all locked and sealed shut," Viktor says, walking up to me after a few minutes. I spot something behind him. "That ladder. What if the entrance is on the rooftop?"

Before anyone could interject, I lunge towards the ladder and climb up. Viktor follows after me, along with the rest of my team.

"Damn, I'm definitely getting steps in," I hear Viktor huff as we climb the very tall ladder. We make it to the rooftop just before Viktor can start rambling about some chick he met in Arkansas.

We run over to an entrance to a staircase. "I told you so," I mouth at Viktor as a soldier kicks down the door.

We walk down the stairwell, guns drawn. On the ground floor, another door blocks our way to a room.

A soldier kicks down with ease and we barge in. One huge room stretches out across the white marble floor.

In front of beautiful grey minimalist couches, a large factory window let in the breathtaking view of the city below.

"Not bad, for a gang," I mumble as Viktor walks in. Toward the back of the room, noises are coming from a separate room.

From the other side, I could hear water rushing. Probably a sink. What, are they washing their face?

Suddenly, a scared, sickly-looking man jumped up from behind a couch. "Please let me go! I-I have a daughter! I won't tell anyone anything!"

He begs, throwing his hands up in surrender. I don't have time for this. "Alright. Go." He yells in joy and runs out of the room. That was random.

We make our way to the separate room cautiously.

I draw my gun and motion for Viktor to open the door. As I step into the door frame, another woman dressed in the same black dress met me, kneeling over a pile of unconscious men.

"Hey, sis."
