"Oh? You seem very confident. Is it due to your low grade magic treasure?"
"Naturally, even with your strength, the gap between cultivation levels along with this magic treasure cannot be easily bridged"
"Maybe, maybe not. How about we bet on that?"
Zhong Han smirked, "Well since you're so confident that you'll even make a bet, I'll throw in my Fire Silk Scarf. But if you lose..."
"If I lose, I'll give you my fire spiritual stones. I have 8 in total and they should be more than enough to be equal in value with your scarf"
Zhong Han's eyes glittered when he heard the words 'fire spiritual stones' come out of Bai Hu's mouth. Being a fire cultivator, fire spirit stones are immensely valuable to him and can aid in breakthroughs.
"Deal"
The spectators below were shocked by the boldness and wealth displayed by Bai Hu. To issue a bet means that he is somewhat confident and to even use 8 elemental spirit stones in the bet. A few also commented on the fact Zhong Han had thrown in his magic treasure. No matter how confident he was, there was always the slightest chance that he could lose.
"Windsteel Blades!"
Bai Hu made a hand seal and used the Windsteel Art's primary attack. A sword formed by wind was made at his behest and he repeatedly made hand seals to conjure even more blades.
Zhong Han's brows furrowed when he felt the lethality of those blades and made hand seals of his own. The Fire Silk Scare expanded in size and spun around him like a tornado, gradually getting faster as time went on.
Bai Hu frowned and threw a regular wind blade forward. The wind blade was fast but it got slower as it met resistance. The scarf was creating a wind barrier to keep out Bai Hu's wind!
"A pity my Golden Bell Art has no ranged techniques. Not that it will stop me of course"
Dozens of Windsteel Blades floated in the air while 2 Gold Splitting Hammers appeared in his hands. He pulled back his arms and threw both hammers forward with all his might, summoning wind blades along with it!
Zhong Han frowned and a fireball appeared on each of his fingers on his left hand. He threw them through an opening in his defense and controlled to aim at the gold hammers. Bai Hu naturally wouldn't let him do as he pleases and made several wind blades collide with the fireballs.
Boom!
The fireballs exploded, letting the Gold Splitting Hammers pass.
Boom!
The hammers hit their mark along with several wind blades, warping the barrier and slowing down the scarf.
Bai Hu made a hand seal, "Go!"
The dozens of Windsteel Blades flew forward at the given opportunity. Zhong Han gritted his teeth and made a hand seal with both hands. The scarf grew and spat out flames that met the blades head on.
Wind and fire merged together to create a deadly dance. Zhong Han had an ecstatic expression when he saw that this method works and hurriedly poured more qi into the scarf.
Meanwhile, Bai Hu's eyes glinted with dangerous light as he made a hand seal. Zhong Han's heart palpitated when he saw that no attack came his way.
Bai Hu spoke calmly, "Your Fire Silk Scarf is quite impressive, though it is unwise to neglect your other defenses in a battle"
"What- Ugh!"
A Windsteel Blade pierced Zhong Han's back. Bai Hu hurriedly made several hand seals once he saw his attack had hit.
"Suppress! detonate!"
The blade blew up, throwing sharp wind carrying the metal attribute everywhere. It lacerated Zhong Han's back, making him cough several mouthfuls of blood.
"Cough cough! Ugh, to think that I would lose"
He wiped the blood off his lips.
"Its my lost"
He took out a recovery pill and swallowed it. He then made another hand seal.
Crack!
The Fire Silk Scarf's light dimmed slightly and Zhong Han threw it to Bai Hu along with a jade slip.
"I'm a man of my word. I've severed my connection with the treasure and in that jade slip contains the abilities and controlling technique for the Fire Silk Scarf"
He then jumped off the platform and the spectators allowed him space to leave. Bai Hu was surprised to see that he had managed to obtain a low grade magic treasure so easily. Even the audience was shocked and looked at the scarf in Bai Hu's hand with a bit of envy.
He jumped off the platform and went to find an open area to inspect the treasure.
Naturally, his luck wasn't so good.
"314 and 992!"
Bai Hu stiffened when he heard his number get called again. What baffled him was the fact that he had just fought an intense battle. He turned and saw Elder Gong holding 2 jade slips with a slightly embarrassed expression.
"I'll allow you 5 minutes to recover a bit"
Bai Hu's expression eased slightly when he heard that. It eased even more when he saw that his opponent was a cultivator at the eighth level, only 1 level ahead of Bai Hu.
He sat with his legs crossed on the platform with a normal spirit stone in each hand after he thanked Elder Gong. He wouldn't use one of his elemental spirit stones as that would expose his wealth to others and paint him a target.
5 minutes passed by quickly, but Bai Hu was still able to recover around 80% of his qi. He stood and exchanged names with the young man who was going to be his opponent.
"I hope you didn't wait for long"
The young man nodded and gave a wry smile, then they began fighting.
Despite having a lower cultivation base and despite the fact that Bai Hu was currently not in top condition, he was still able to quickly gain the upper hand. His opponent was strong and cultivated a wood attributed art, allowing him to grow tree trunks from the ground to defend him.
"Windsteel Blades!"
Of course, all of that defense was futile as the Windsteel Blades are incomparably sharp due to the ingenious combination of wind and metal.
The blades sliced through the wooden walls like a hot knife through butter. Bai Hu controlled the blades and positioned them at the height of his opponent's neck. In just a short few minutes, he was able to get his opponent to surrender.
Bai Hu jumped off the platform and listened.
"021 and 049!"
He breathed a sigh of relief. He might have won twice in a row, bringing himself great prestige, but might not survive if he was called up 3 times in a row. That would be outrageous and he would question if the fights were rigged.
Finally he had a chance to look at his newly obtained magic treasure. He took out the jade slip and let a strand of divine sense into the slip. His mind entered and a plethora of characters swarmed him, directly integrating the information in his mind.
The more the information was absorbed, the more ecstatic Bai Hu felt as he read to many functions of the Fire Silk Scarf.
The main crafting material the scarf is made out of is called Sunflame Silk which can only be harvested by extracting it from the cocoons of Sunflame Worms. They are usually Foundation level beasts but have little combat power and their only notable attribute is the hardiness of their silk.
The silk is incredibly soft and can conduct fire attributed qi well. That effect is further amplified by refining a Sunflame Worm's Neidan and Core, along with a Purefire Crystal.
This treasure took a Golden Core cultivator of the fire attribute a week to refine the treasure using his special flame. The final product was a defensive low grade treasure that can be further refined using the right materials.
According to the information in the slip, the scarf can defend well against both fire and water, making this many times more expensive than normal defensive treasures. Furthermore, the more qi that gets put in, the better the defensive capabilities of the scarf. The scarf can also change size and be manipulated according to the owner's will and also spit out fires of its own.
The best part was that it contained a few offensive and restrictive capabilities as well. He could use it as a sharp cutting weapon with a single thought or as a tough binding rope. It was a truly versatile treasure.
"675 and 923!"
Bai Hu watched as his friend went up against another of the same cultivation level. Long Sun's cultivation had stabilized after a few days and his strength had grown tremendously, coupled with the fact that he was a battle maniac, there was simply little chance for his opponent to win.
He had managed to knock his opponent off the platform after half an hour and won the match.
"003 and 012!"
Bai Hu narrowed his eyes as he paid attention to this battle, or more correctly, one of the young men who went up.
