Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Location: Tribeca Prep High School.

"You must Rearrange all these books in their respective shelves and then your 2 hour detention will start." Mr. Laritate explained.

"2 hours?" Y/N exclaimed in shock.

"Yes. Do you want me to add another hour?" Mr. Laritate crossed his arms.

"No, No, 2 hours are fine." Y/N sighed.

"Good Evening, Mr. Laritate, Y/N." Alex greeted while entering the principal's Cabin. She had a glass of milkshake in her hands.

"Miss Russo, Can you not even be on time for your detention?" Mr. Laritate asked.

"Oh, Take a chill pill, Mr. Laritate. I am just.." She looked down at her watch. "Just 15 minutes late. pfft!" Alex chuckled.

"Miss Russo! This is-.."

"That reminded, How was the show you went to, last night? Did you ride any horses?" Alex asked.

"It was fantastic. The horses were soo exquisite and..."

"Ah! So cunning." Y/N mumbled and scoffed.

"Ahem! Go and do all your tasks. I will see you both after 2 hours." Mr. Laritate said and left the cabin.

"I'm going to take a nap now. If he comes, please wake me." Alex yawned. She kept her bag aside and sat down on Principal's chair.

"You are supposed to start by rearranging the books on their shelves." Y/N said.

"You can do that on your own, can't you?" Alex smirked. "I am tired." She yawned.

"I don't care if you're exhausted. This is your punishment!"

"You mean, YOUR Punishment? I'm only here to keep you company." Alex smiled.

"Alex Russo, You are an evil, evil witch." Y/N sighed and shook his head in frustration.

"You're Damn right, I am." Alex giggled. Y/N had nothing to say. He rolled his eyes and turned around to start arranging the books by himself.

"This is the best coffee shop here in waverly place." Justin gestured around the shop he entered.

"We really appreciate you joining us, Tutor. I'll make certain that we have the best time possible." Juliet said.

"I am looking forward to it. Max was already exhausted from practising magic all day and Alex is in detention." Tutor sighed.

"Don't worry about it. Come on, Have a seat." Juliet said. They all got seated and started scanning the menu. Tutor's gaze was drawn to the cashier all of a sudden. Her eyes widened, and she couldn't contain her excitement.

"Uhm, Guys, I will be back in a minute." Tutor got up from her chair.

"Where are you going?" Justin asked.

"Just looking around. I'll be back." Tutor said and rushed towards the counter.

"Good evening, Ma'am! What can-" The barista trailed off is shock. "OH MY GOD! Tutor, you? here?" She gripped Tutor's hands with delight.

"Good to see you again, Brenna!" They attempted to hug with the counter between them and erupted in laughter.

"Brenna! concentrate on your work!" A man yelled from inside. Tutor gave Brenna a perplexed glance.

"How come you're here? How's everyone at home? You've met Y/N, right? He will be overjoyed to meet you, I'm certain." Brenna said.

"Everything is ok, Bren. I even saw Y/N, but our circumstances did not allow for conversation."

"What happened?"

"I was there at this sandwich store where he works, but I wasn't there by myself. He therefore made an effort to not recognise me, I suppose." Tutor shrugged.

"However, I'm sure he was just as delighted to see you as I was, and he may even be attempting to block off thoughts of you right now." Brenna said.

"I think you are right about that. Where is he, anyways?" Tutor asked.

"He has a detention." Brenna sighed.

"Now, That's the Y/N I remember." Tutor giggled.

"Hey, Y/N! I have got an amazing book. Wanna read it with me?" Alex asked the boy who was lost in his own thoughts while sitting far away from her.

"Not interested." Y/N said.

"Oh come on, Y/N. Try it; I promise you won't regret it."

"As I already stated, I have no interest." Y/N gritted his teeth.

"Fine, Your loss." Alex shrugged. She unzipped her bag and pulled out a book. She then began reading it aloud enough for Y/N to hear. "The phoenix is an immortal bird associated with Greek Mythology that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by ris-"

"What are you reading?" Y/N stopped her in mid-sentence.

"Oh? You seemed uninterested to me, didn't you?" Alex raised a brow.

"What is that?" Y/N stood up and approached her, peering into her book.

"A bestiarium. A collection of descriptions or representations of real or imaginary animals. Why?" She yanked the book out of his line of sight.

"Where did you get this from?"

"Don't you remember that I am an evil witch?" Alex mimicked a witch's laugh.

"I am serious, Alex! Why do you have this?"

"I was curious to learn more about certain mythical figures. Why do you care?" Alex shrugged.

"I-I don't care." Y/N chuckled nervously. "I was curious too."

"Oh, great. Wanna join?"

"Uhm-Yeah-Sure." Y/N said. Alex sat on top of the table in front of her, while Y/N sat on the chair. She continued reading the book while running her fingers through her hair.

"Here's next.." Alex turned the page and started reading. "Goblins. A goblin is a creature that appears in the folklore of multiple European cultures. They are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story, ranging from household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon , such as the ability to shapeshift. Have you ever encountered a goblin?" Alex asked.

"Not that I can recall."

"Come on, Y/N. You used to live in wizard world and you have never seen a goblin?"

"I don't know, I'm not a big social butterfly." Y/N said.

"Fair enough. Not to brag, but I have met a goblin once." Alex said.

"Thats good."

"Yeah he is a goblin/wizard police officer." Alex said.

Reading about this and that took up some of their time. "Hey this looks interesting." Alex said when she read the name of the next creature. "Dragon--a large lizard- or serpent-like creature, conceived in some traditions as evil and in others as beneficent. Having pupils which always look like vertical slits and possessing a breath that scorches whatever it comes into contact with, some rare breed of dragons were born with the power of Weather Manipulation which is mostly triggered by their emotions. Of all predators, dragons are at the top as they dominate all the food chains and ecosystems. Dragons are vicious and dangerous creatures. The invincibility of dragons was never matched by anything." Alex read. "Though dangerous, they are quite cool, aren't they?"

"They don't seem to be a threat." Y/N said.

"Are you kidding me?" Alex scoffed. "Did you not hear the part where it says they have a breath which burns everything, they have power to manipulate weather and that their invincibility is unmatched?" Alex asked.

"Alex, they too are living things. Unless compelled, they don't threaten people." Y/N said.

"I suppose you're right. But for once, consider that if a dragon sees you, you will most likely flee rather than pet it." Alex shrugged.

"Let's proceed. Would you kindly read the next?" Y/N said.

"Yeah, here we go. The next thing is....Elves."

"Alex, for the love of God! These beings cannot be objectified." Y/N exclaimed.

"Alright, relex! I'll rephrase it. The next being are elves. Happy?" Alex asked.

"That didn't sound heartfelt at all." Y/N scoffed.

"What do you mean, Y/N? Why do you treat me with such snobbery? What did I do to you?" Alex huffed.

"You did nothing Alex. All I meant was, Because you don't believe these creatures exist, you are being disrespectful and amusing about them.Once you do, your perspective will be altered."

"Stop lecturing to me for once!"

"I am not lecturing you."

"Yes you are and for your information, I borrowed this book to know what kind of being you are. Guess what? I need to find someone who is nerdy or psychotic. Not an apex predator." Alex stomped away from him in a huff.

"How long will he be gone?" Tutor asked.

"I dont know. He must come back anytime soon." Brenna said.

"I cant wait to meet him." Tutor said.

"I know-Oh wait! I bought him a mobile phone last night. I think I can call him on that." Brenna said.

"Please do." Tutor said in excitement. Before Brenna could make a call, they were interrupted by Justin and Juliet.

"Hey, tutor, Brenna? Do you guys know each other?" Juliet asked.

"Ye-No, How could we?" Tutor chuckled. "How do you know her?"

"His brother is a very good friend of mine. He works with me at late nite bite." Juliet said.

"Oh. I see." Tutor chuckled nervously.

"Well, we are here to give our orders, miss brenna. Have you liked anything to order, tutor?" Justin asked.

"I dont know. I'll take whatever you guys are taking." Tutor said.

"Alright then, have a seat with Juliet, I'll be back after giving our orders." Justin said.
