Chapter 1 - Prologue

"How come you are here?" demanding an answer, he turned his head to her side, standing just a few steps away from her. He freely roamed his gaze all over her body, from the black pencil heels she was wearing to the diamond earrings that were peeking from her shiny silver hair, her big beautiful eyes that were embracing kohl, which was surely new to him.

"She has changed," he thought to himself and did not know to be amused by the fact or not.

She replied without hesitating for a second "It's a secret," and looked at him accusingly, as if, he was the reason behind that curt reply.

She did not react to his scrutinizing gaze even when she found it penetrating her soul and, her stomach churning out in the same way it has always done in the past.

The past she had moved on, or least, that was what she had thought.

He chuckled and moved his gaze away from her to the roof of the basement. The naughty feelings and the warmth his eyes held a second before was gone now.

"My words" he spoke or rather murmured to himself and looked at her, to see her looking away with a hint of hurt in her eyes.

He closed his hands in a fist for, he, knew he was the reason behind those sad eyes.

"I had my reasons to hide my identity from you." looking at her as if his words would somehow explain his behaviour, he spoke.

Deep down, he knew he had just one chance to say this, to speak of all he had always thought.

Her mind flashed with the isolated images on hearing him talking about his identity, snap of the deserted desert, the sound of bombs and gunshots.

The images keep coming, pictures of a handsome but wild man beating the life out of the persons, the same man hurling while sitting on his knee on the ground and weeping at a girl child body.

She shut her eyes to be away from all those haunting images that had given her nightmares. She did not want to recall those moments with the man, moments of him stroking her face and lips with eyes full of love and desires, again and again.

For those images were the only, thing, she had dreamed and lived.

She wanted to scream and yell at the mysterious person standing in front of her, wished to demand the answers she was worthy of, but her tongue betrayed her.

Frustratingly, She looked at her watch and saw it passing nine in the night and passing the curfew given by Ryan. She reached for her bag, lying on the corridor's marble floor and picked it up while adjusting her short black dress.

She had taken a step to head toward the exit gate after adjusting her dress and hair when she felt pulled and bounced to his hard chest. Before she could understand, she felt his arm snuck around her waist, shoving her closer.

She looked up and met with a pair of intense gaze that bored deeply into her. She abruptly tried to ignore his vulnerable gaze, but, it was hard for her to look away.

He had heard the saying Eyes are the window to the soul and wanted to know the truth behind it but seemed she too knew his intentions and he found nothing in her eyes.

Sighing in defeat, he spoke up "Where are you living?", even though he was well aware of it.

Levelling her eyes with him, she spoke up with confidence "It's a secret".

With the hope of hearing her talk to him and, to stop treating him as a ghost, he asked once again "Are you happy seeing me?"

She immediately looked up at him but said nothing. After looking at his reaction for a second, she spoke with very calm and composed manner" It's a secret".

"Did you come here alone?" he repeated.

She did not hesitate for even a second before uttering "It's a secret."

All she wanted was to be away from his embrace, his warm body, his breath fanning on her neck and the sensation, the sensation of being close to him and feeling his muscular, hard, well-built body, again.

With each passing seconds, his temper and patience were running out and, he just wanted to shut her mouth. He knows why she was repeating the same sentence, again and again.

"Are you single?" he tried last time, making a mental note to shut her mouth if she repeats the same sentence.

"It's a sec...," before she could utter more, she was pushed to the wall, her mouth shut off by his lips on hers and, he kissed her with the mixed emotions of anger, frustration, jealousy, longingness and desires.

All just for her.
