"Okay, good! Since it's going to be a fair fight, I'll give you a weapon equal to my weapon. How about that? Sounds fair, right? See I always keep to my words." [Valor]
"Oh, really? Are you sure about that? Better not go back on your words later if you lose." [Sol]
"Of course! I like fair battle because it's more challenging! Because if I win, it feels good, you know."
Deep down in Sol's heart, he was smiling evilly. With the current weapon he has, it's going to take a long time to kill Valor with it. However, if he could have a weapon that is better than his current one, then the fight would end quicker since it deals more damage.
Kinda like a video game, if a boss has 10,000 HP and the player only does 100 damage per hit, how many times does a player have to hit the boss before the boss dies? It would be around 100 times. However, if a weapon does 1000 damage per hit, then the player only needs to hit 10 times to kill the boss. In short, it can help save a lot of time.
After all, who would want to spend 10 hours just to kill one mini boss? That's obviously too long, and it's not even fun at that point. Maybe killing the demon king would be worth it even if it takes a long time, since it's the final boss. However, for Valor, he's just a mini boss, so it's not worth spending hours, at least that's what Sol thought.
"Alright then, so what weapon are you going to give me?" Sol asked.
"What would you like? Anything in mind? Because I have many types of weapons available depending on your fighting style."
"Hmm… Let me think, one second please."
"Sure! No problem, take your time!" Valor said in an exciting manner.
Valor hasn't fought for quite a long time, so he couldn't help but itching for some action. After all, he was kinda bored living in the fortress doing nothing all these times, so now that he had the chance to fight Sol, naturally he was excited about it.
'So I'm lacking in terms of speed and damage, if so, I need a weapon that has speed and also does damage, basically half speed, half damage would be the best. I could go for the highest damage weapon, but if I'm not fast enough, this motherfucker might dodge all my attacks and if I can't hit him, then it's pointless.'
Sol thought while stroking his chin.
'Nevermind, I don't really know much about weapons. Also, he seems much more knowledgeable than me, so he probably knows what type of weapon suits me the best if I ask him.'
"Ahem," Sol cleared his throat, "Well, I have a problem here."
"Problem? What do you mean?" Valor was confused and didn't get what Sol meant.
"You see… I don't know what weapon to choose to be honest."
"Ah! So that's the issue, I see, I see. Well, just tell me what you're looking for and maybe I can recommend what's best for you."
"I don't know what weapon I'm looking for, but I just want something that has a balance of speed and power."
"Speed and power?"
"That's right."
"Okay, do you want a melee weapon or a ranged weapon?"
"I prefer melee as I don't really know how to use ranged weapons."
Looking at the sword Sol was holding, Valor said, "The current sword you are wielding is pretty well balanced in terms of speed and power. It's not too big and but also not too small, it's a medium size sword. Unfortunately, it's a low quality sword meant for demon soldiers to use, but fear not, I could give you something similar, but better quality, would that work for you?"
"Sure, we can give it a try."
Not long later, one of the demon soldiers came with the sword that Sol requested. On the surface, the sword looks quite similar, but obviously the material inside was different.
In short, it was a Gold-Rank Sword.
"Here, this is a Gold-Rank Sword, it's about one rank higher than the current one you have," Valor said as he handed the sword over to Sol.
"Ooh, thank you very much." Sol was pleased.
The previous one that Sol was wielding was a Silver-Rank sword, which was only useful for killing demons that are around Bronze to Silver rank.
Since Valor is a Gold-Rank demon, a Gold-Rank weapon would be perfect for it. In other words, Sol just hit jackspot as he can now kill much faster than before.
"Alright, you ready? Or do you want to test out the sword first?" Valor asked Sol.
"I'm good. We can start now." [Sol]
"Wait, what about armor?"
"Oh, I don't need that, I'm fine with just this sword."
"You sure? I don't think that's fair though."
"Well, if you care about being fair, then you should just take off your armor and fight me."
Sol suggested.
"Fine, I'll do that."
With that said, Valor gladly took off his armor.
'Bahaha! What an idiot! This is truly a blessing in disguise. Without armor, you're going to die even quicker now.' Sol was laughing deep inside his heart.
"Alright, if that's the case, I'll be the referee for this match if you guys don't mind," said Pluton who decided to volunteer as a referee.
"Okay, are you guys ready?" [Pluton]
"Yup, ready anytime!" [Valor]
"Yes, I'm ready." [Sol]
"Alright. Three! Two! One! Start!"
Without mercy, with his gigantic sword, Valor charged at Sol.
"Take this! Vertical Slash! Hahaha!"
VERTICAL SLASH!
'Seriously, can this guy shut up? I don't need you to let me know what kind of an attack you're going to execute.' Sol was a bit annoyed.
The giant sword Valor used was at least over 1000 KG, very deadly, enough to cut a human in half easily.
Had Sol been using a Silver-Rank sword right now, a single hit would break instantly, and thus he might have to find a new sword to replace it right away. However, since his current sword is Gold-Rank, it won't break easily and could at least withstand a few hundred hits before its durability ends.
Sol was smart. He didn't use his sword to block Valor's attack, because it would decrease the sword's durability in the long run, so he blocked it with his arms instead.
"Idiot! You're going to die if you don't use your sword to block it." [Valor]
"Well, we'll see."
Far away, up high in the fortress tower, Ingrid was thrilled to watch the fight.
"Valor, huh? Looks like he's going to regret hitting that kid's body with such force. Hitting that kid's body is almost like hitting a rock, and hitting a hard rock too many times will cause a person's arm to be numb in the long run." [Ingrid]
CLANG!
Sol's finger clashed with Valor's giant sword.
"What the hell?!"
"Did that kid just stop Valor's attack with one finger?!"
"Holy shit! I see why Barus was killed by this kid."
"Looks like I was right. That kid did indeed hide his true power after all." [Darius]
Everyone was speechless and some even too stunned to speak. Even their mouths were wide open as they simply couldn't believe it.
"What the fuck?! You actually stop it with just your index finger?!" Valor was beyond shocked with what he had just witnessed.
It was already amazing that Sol was able to block Valor's attacks with just his arms alone, but with one finger? That's on another level, at least that's what everyone thought.
"That's why I said I don't need armor because my body itself is already a full set armor." [Sol]
"I see. I thought you were joking about not needing armor, but it makes sense now. No wonder you were able to kill Barus so easily."
"Easily? Err, I don't think so, it was quite a long fight actually…"
"I also heard from Ingrid that you were a tank, right? At first, I didn't believe what she said, but now I see why even Ingrid had a hard time killing you." [Valor]
"A tank? Well, you're not wrong, but it's only temporarily before I get my power back."
"Temporarily? Before you get your power back???"
"It's nothing. Enough talking, let's fight."
With that said, Sol attacked Valor. Of course, none of his attacks were able to do much harm, well maybe a tiny cut here and there, but still not enough to kill Valor just yet.
'Not bad, at least I was able to leave some cuts on his body. As expected from a Gold-Rank sword, still kinda slow, but better than nothing I guess.' [Sol]
Despite using a Gold-Rank sword, Sol still couldn't penetrate Valor's body. The reason for that was because Valor was using his mana to form a shield around his body for protection, that's why Sol couldn't pierce Valor's body even though Valor wasn't wearing any armor.
Unfortunately, for Barus, he looked down on Sol and forgot to use mana to protect his body, that's why Sol was able to deal massive damage at that time even with a trash low-rank sword.
