" Answer me! where are they!?" He yelled again with a hoarse voice and held her shoulders, which made her flinch from his outburst.
She frowned and wondered why his reaction was this huge. Wasn't he the one that didn't want the baby?
" Zach!" Carl growled as he saw how frightened the girl looked. He quickly went to her side and led her away from his crazy brother after glaring at him.
Clara looked up at the man who had suddenly held her and her frown deepened. ' Isn't he mad at me?. She slowly sat down on the couch and watched as he also sat beside her.
Zach sighed and also followed them then sat on the opposite couch. " I'm sorry, " he muttered softly and hung his head down. and after some seconds, he took a deep breath and looked up again. " Please can you tell me where she is? What do you mean when you said that her baby died? When did she have a baby?".
Clara's head snapped in his direction and her expression darkened when she remembered all the pain he had caused her friend to go through." Why would you like to know? Weren't you the one that doesn't want the baby?" She replied coldly and looked away, finding the whole thing absurd.
Both brothers stared at her with surprise and Carl sighed then muttered softly, " he doesn't know." No matter how childish his brother was, he knew he would never do such kind of a thing and he even loved Mira.
" Yes, yes. I swear I didn't know and had actually searched for her for a very long time." Zach quickly added and then sighed. His heart ached immensely when he imagined what Mira would have gone through.
Clara's pupils slowly widened and she stared between both brothers in astonishment then jerked up. " But what about the texts... I mean, you texted her and__?" she stared at him with knitted brows as her frown deepened.
" W..which t..text?" Zach asked with a gasp and also stood up. Had Mira texted him? But how come he hadn't seen it? " shit" his thoughts wandered to a particular person and he slumped down on the chair.
She watched his expression and her frown slowly dissipated then she sat back down. ' was it all a misunderstanding,? Oh my God.' She glanced at him again and took a deep breath then stared down her legs and narrated everything Mira had told her about her pregnancy and how the baby died without leaving everything out.
After she was done narrating, the room sank into a long silence and she slowly looked up and watched Zach who had his head down with both palms covering his face. ' was he crying?' she sighed heavily and silently watched as his shoulders shook violently. 'So he really does love Mira'.
Her eyes darted toward Carl who had a calm look and she heard him sighed while staring at his brother.
After a long silence, Zach finally looked up with bloodshot eyes. " where is she?" he softly asked with a barely audible voice.
" She went back three days ago, " Clara replied then also told him the address Mira had given her and Zach instantly stood up.
" Wait, " Carl stopped him and also stood up then glanced toward Clara. " Let's eat, " he muttered and they all went to the dining area.
'Hmmm,' she sighed as her eyes would glance toward him now and then as they all ate slowly and she noticed that he didn't even glance at her. ' I hope he isn't mad at me.' she sighed again as she remembered he had even ordered her not to go out of her apartment. And now, he had caught her red-handed.
Zach's thought was not on the food at all as he barely touched it. It was all his fault, he knew it was Diana, one of the girls he had a fake engagement with who did it. She had caused him to lose his baby. But he would punish her later, as the most important thing now was to tell everything to Mira. He sighed for the umpteenth time and finally stood up after eating some mouthfuls. " I need to go find her, " he muttered dejectedly and Carl nodded.
" Be safe, " he replied and Clara also looked up and wished him luck after assuring him that she would call Mira and tell her everything.
She hoped her bag was not lost during her drunken state as her phone was inside and hoped it was still in that restaurant.
After Zach left, the place sank into silence again. Each of them was lost in their thoughts. She was thinking if he was still mad at her while he was thinking about her relationship with Jack.
They soon finished their food and Clara stood up and started taking the plates with her head down.
He watched her with a sigh and took the plates from her, remembering the cut on her finger that day.
" Wait, let me wash__"
" I'll wash them." he took the plates from her hand.
" Oh." Clara did not argue further as she remembered what happened the other day and watched his back as he entered the kitchen.
When he returned from the kitchen, his eyes glanced around and spotted her sitting with her head down on the couch. He watched his clothes which she was still wearing and chuckled then walked toward her and sat down on the opposite couch.
Clara rubbed the back of her palm as she sensed him approaching and slowly looked up when he sat down. " Ehm, Carl... I'm__"
" It's okay." He replied softly and wondered why she wanted to apologize. He gazed at her fearful expression and remembered that was how she looked that day in his office. Was he being too irrational? He sighed and looked at her calmly.
"Huh? you're not mad." Her eyes brightened and she sighed in relief. She thought he was going to scold her.
" Mm." Carl chuckled and paused then continued some seconds later. " You and Jack. . ., what is your relationship?"
