And now, he could see tears dropping from the little boy's eyes. It seems like his younger self was also feeling the same pain as him. He doesn't also want to give up.
'Come here.' That was the mysterious man's voice. and it took him by surprise.
Although he didn't remember the man speaking to him that night. He knew those were the fragments of memories he was trying so hard to grasp.
'Bring the baby.' The man's voice sounded again and he could see his little self shrinking back in fear.
Although he hadn't seen the man's face which was slowly coming into view through his blurry vision, he could still sense the strange aura from him. Was it danger or something else? He couldn't discern. However, he couldn't care less as he knew, he had to get away from him.
Glancing back, he noticed that the two men had stopped following him and could hear groans of pains coming through the darkness. Weren't they the ones that had hit him on the head?
He didn't have time to linger on his thoughts as he sensed the mysterious man now towering in front of him. His head snapped back in alertness and the next second, his eyes widened tremendously.
He was shocked, not because the man had now snatched the baby away from him, but his face, he could clearly make out the man's face.
Another surprise hit him when another man suddenly appeared. He was younger than this bearded man in front of him and he was also holding something in his hands.
His eyes darted between them in a daze as they swiftly glanced at each other. And when the bearded man who was now holding the baby looked at him, he could notice a hint of a smile on his face. was it that of gratitude? He couldn't care less as he wondered why the other man was also holding another baby.
In the next second, his thoughts were confirmed and the next thing he saw was the small lighter that the bearded man flickered in front of him. 'Hypnosis.'
'Yes, It was hypnosis.' Now everything makes sense. They made him think he had killed the baby.
'Big bro, Big bro...'
He could hear a voice frantically calling out to him in his subconscious and his brows knitted as the voice was becoming louder.
"Big bro, can you hear me? Big bro, Big bro," Zach called out anxiously as he watched his brother who was groaning and profusely sweating on the bed.
"Big bro," he called out again and David who had been standing at her corner rolled his eyes as his upper lips twitched.
"Stop it, Zach... I think it's the memories that are coming back to him. Let's give him some time and he would calm down." He sighed exasperatedly.
"But look, he's obviously in pain... Isn't there a way to make it stop? What if, what if..." Zach trailed off in a daze as he watched his brother helplessly. He had been having episodes of this kind of pain for the past two weeks and it seems like today's own is far severe from the rest as he had been in it for hours.
"Zach, the doctors said that his brain was tampered with, more than once so it is inevitable for him to experience these pains if he's trying to remember," David explained patiently while trying to recount the times he had uttered these same words for the past few days. Now he's regretting ever calling him here.
"You... it's all your fault. Why didn't you talk him out of it? If anything happens to my brother, I'll... I'll."
The assistant felt like he could break down at any moment. How could he talk his boss out of it if even his brother could not?.
He sighed again then walked away from the crazy guy and sat down on the couch.
Zach's attention also turned to his brother whose expression was gradually turning calm and he sighed inside.
After some minutes, their heads snapped to the door which was suddenly opened and they both sighed in relief as they watched the doctors walking inside, together with the other younger staffs.
One of the older doctors walked toward the bed and examined the guy's expression for some minutes while his small frown slowly dissipated. He turned around with a small smile and gestured to his other colleagues who also walked closer to the bed.
"What is it? Is there any improvement?" Zach asked anxiously while David also looked at them expectantly.
The man gazed down at his wristwatch then turned toward them. "Can you please excuse us? " he asked politely and both guys nodded then walked out of the room.
_______
Zach paced in front of the door while David watched him quietly, not caring to explain anything more to the overacting guy. It was not like his boss was not going to wake up. And besides, it is already time for the doctors to bring him out of the comma.
Thirty minutes passed by and Zach finally sighed then sauntered down to the living room and David also followed him.
He took out his phone then slouched down on the couch while making a call. The phone rang for a long time and he frowned slightly then glanced down at his wristwatch. "Ahhh... She must still be sleeping...," he chuckled then turned toward David who had sat down on the opposite couch.
David's lips twitched slightly as he stared at the guy's mischievous grin. Wasn't he just grieving about his brother a while ago? He sighed exasperatedly then silently listened to him.
"Hehe... David, about that hotel. It's almost done right," Zach asked hurriedly while rubbing his hands together.
David slowly nodded with a small frown and wondered why he was excited. "It will be done in a few weeks..." He trailed off as the guy suddenly laughed again. "W..What is wrong with you?"
