' Hmph, as if she wasn't the one that had forced her to carry it, saying that her oh so precious fingers might get hurt.'
" Lucy, go out... It's adults talk you don't need to be present." Her mother scolded.
" Mummy, aren't I an adult too, I'm eighteen for goodness sake." she whined and held her brothers arm.' Hmph, I won't let you bully my big bro.'
" She's right Grace, we have to talk about her wedding too. look at them, she obviously took after her brother." The man scoffed while pointing his fingers at her and Lucy's eyes widened then she quickly left the room after giving her brother an apologetic look.
The room quieted down again and Vivian was about to seat beside the older man after handing all of them a cup of tea when he suddenly stopped her. " Grace come here. dear go and sit beside him, " he commanded and she nodded slightly while trying to contain her excitement.
" Yes Vivian, come sit beside him, he's your future husband." The woman chuckled then went and sat beside her husband while Vivian sat beside Carl, but made sure not to sit too close to him after feeling the dark aura coming from him.
" We should start talking about the engagement soon." The man sighed contentedly with a chuckle as he watched them sitting together. He couldn't wait to hold his first grandchild.
Vivian's face instantly brightened and she glanced toward Carl who was about to object, then sighed inside and quickly cut him off. " Uncle, Auntie, don't you think it's too early? why don't you let Big bro decide, and besides, my father said he's busy and couldn't come back anytime soon because something had suddenly come up, " she said softly while staring at the couple with a sweet smile.
The couple nodded and smiled at her adoringly. she was obviously trying to stand up for their son.
" Okay child, we'll give you both some time." The man agreed while glaring at his son and Vivian smiled gratefully then glanced at Carl who still had on an expressionless face. ' I'll do everything to make you fall for me Carl because you can only be mine.' she sighed happily.
Carl's gaze darted toward her and he sighed inside. He didn't know how many times he had to make it clear to her that he doesn't love her. she's lucky that she is his stepmother's niece.
" And where had that stupid brother of yours run off to without informing anyone?" his father suddenly asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.
" Yes son, did Zach tell you where he was going? we couldn't reach him on the phone, " his stepmother added worriedly while giving him an expectant look.
Carl slightly shoved away the snack Vivian had placed in front of him and after waiting until she left the room, gazed toward the couple.
" Father, Mum, Zach is with Mira, " he said and remembered what his brother had told him earlier on the phone. He summarized what had happened to them and after he was finished, watched as two cups of teas fell on the floor with an ear-shattering sound.
" D..Do you m..mean my grandchild. . ." his father trailed off as his eyes widened while pointing his shaking fingers at him. " wait, I have a grandchild... no, I had a grandchild and she died!!!?" He stood up and yelled inside the study room.
Carl nodded calmly and also stood up, not wanting to give any more explanation as he had given out his brother already. He went toward his stepmother who was wiping her tears on the couch then patted her shoulder. " It's okay, " he cajoled her.
" Poor girl. when you and your brother always tried to avoid my questions I knew there was something underneath... when did you find out that she had a child?"
"A few weeks ago, " he replied and remembered that night Clara had spilled it in her drunken state. He sighed then stood up and left the study room.
" WHERE IS THAT BASTARD?."
He heard his father thundered from inside the study room then sighed again and walked away toward his room.
" Big bro, I just got this from the maids." Vivian suddenly appeared in front of him with cleaned clothes laying on her hands.
Wasn't it supposed to be delivered to his room by the maids? He frowned and walked away without even glancing at her.
She stared at his back and a small smile appeared on her lips as she slowly followed behind him and entered the room.
She took the clothes inside the walk-in closet and arranged them carefully then came out, and her heart thumped rapidly as her eyes landed on him, resting his back on the bed's headboard while his attention was focused on the phone on his phone.
Inhaling deeply, she plastered a sweet smile on her face then slowly walked forward.
" Big Bro," she muttered softly, now standing beside him.
Carl looked up with a frown and wondered what she was still doing in the room. " What is it?" he uttered coldly and turned back to his phone.
" Uhm... can I talk to you for a minute?" she lowered her head while fidgeting with her fingers.
Hearing no response from him, she continued." Ehm Big Bro, why don't you want to marry me? did I do something wrong? please tell me and I'll..." she looked up at him while biting her lower lip.
Carl sighed as his attention was fully diverted from the phone. " Get out, " he muttered under his breath and stood up.
She gasped slightly and took one step closer to him." Big Bro__"
" I said get out!" He turned back at her coldly.
" Okay... I'm sorry" she muttered softly with a smile and sauntered out of the room after glancing back at him as he was now laying on the bed while his attention had turned back to his phone. ' hehe, he looks more handsome when he's mad.' She closed the door and chuckled then regained her nonchalant expression while walking toward her room.
