The ladies squealed excitedly and started working on her after sitting her on the chair.
Clara watched them through the mirror in astonishment and couldn't comprehend what had just happened. " W..wait." she tried to stop them but their loud chattering had shut her voice down and she watched helplessly as they twisted and turned her hair at a different angle with some machines.
" Her hair is so smooth."
" It has the right texture. Couldn't believe we would suddenly get lucky today."
" hehe, the CEO sure has a good test."
Clara sighed exasperatedly and made a mental note to speak to Jack after the ladies were done doing whatever they wanted to.
After they finished with her hair she sighed in relief and was about to get up when one of them suddenly asked her to shut her eyes. Then she felt her applying some things in her face which felt like makeup. ' what is he up to?' She thought worriedly and prayed that they would soon be done.
" There... all done." She heard the lady said cheerfully while clapping her hands and she frowned then slowly opened her eyes and stared into the mirror.
' What is this!' She gasped as her eyes were met with her reflection which doesn't really look like her true self.
Her hair was now parked in a loose bun while some strands which were slightly curled dangled from the side of her forehead down to her face. The transformation makeup, made her looked like her younger self while the hairpin dazzled above her head, between the strands.
She watched herself in astonishment and didn't even know when one of the ladies pulled her up from the chair then led her into a smaller room.
" Huh? What is this?" She came back to her senses and her gaze landed on the golden dress in the lady's hands.
" Y..you d..don't like it? It's v..very beautiful miss... It is the best collection we've received, ordered specifically for you." The lady stuttered and gaze at her as if pleading her to accept the dress.
Clara's frown deepened and she stared down at the dress. It was really beautiful and the small diamond designs made it sparkle against the light. She was sure Maya was going to marvel at this dress.
She was still admiring the dress when the lady started talking again. " Please Miss, you have to wear this. The manager is very strict and I might lose my job. Please please help me." The lady pleaded while pushing the dress toward her and Clara sighed then finally took it from her.
" Thank you so much." Her expression brightened and she quickly left the room, leaving Clara inside.
She sighed again and changed into the dress with great difficulty then looked at herself in the huge mirror. " It is really beautiful, " She whispered and stood like that while watching as the dress fitted her figures perfectly then stopped below her knees and was sliced slightly at one side. The light and transparent fabric at the back flowed down behind her and made a stream of sparkling stones on the floor.
When she opened the door, the ladies reactions were greater than hers and she slowly strode out with a slight smile. Is this a dress-up game or what?
One of the ladies rushed toward her with matching heels and purse then bent down and helped her put on the shoes.
Clara stared at the golden purse and glanced down at the shoe which was also golden in color and both were also sparkling with small stones of diamonds just like the dress, however, the diamonds on the purse were much more gummed very close together that you could barely see the fabric underneath.
She got out of the door with a sigh of relief after the assistants had made her wore a necklace and two dangling earrings. Her eyes darted around and quickly locate Jack at a corner who was busy on a call.
Jack turned back after speaking with his assistant who had told him that everything was ready. He paused as his jaw dropped and almost dropped his phone while gawking at the gorgeous lady standing ahead. " Clara?" Her name escaped his lips subconsciously as he slowly gazed at her from head to toe and his heart thumped rapidly." Beautiful, " he whispered and a smile blossomed on his face.
Clara rushed toward him with a small frown while making sure she didn't match the light fabric which she held with both hands. " Jack, what is the meaning of this, " she asked softly then sighed.
" Ehm, Clara... please let's go to the car. I promise I'll explain everything." he gazed into her eyes softly and held her hand then started walking toward the elevator.
When they reached downstairs and got out of the mall. She glanced around for his car which was parked there before they went up. A frown settled on her face and she turned to him, about to ask when a black limousine suddenly stopped in front of them.
" J..Jack?." she stared at him with widened eyes but he only smiled back with a chuckle and she watched in astonishment, as he held her by the should and into the back seat whose door was already opened by the chauffeur.
" Jack, what is the meaning of all this? where are you taking us?" she asked in confusion while looking down at the dress. She had a bad premonition that it was not going to be something proper.
Jack heaved a sigh then turned to face her as the car started moving. " Clara, there's a business gathering I'm invited to. . . I need to attend__"
A business party? She had only seen it on TV and isn't it couples that usually go together. She felt her heartbeat accelerate and her palms which had turned sweaty tightened on the purse." A..Are we going there now?" she asked and lowered her head, contemplating whether to actually tell him or not. She was afraid Carl was going to misunderstand her if he finds out about this.
