Once the door closed, Wang Jian turned his entire attention on Su Xian. He reached out, wrapped his arm around Su Xian, and yanked her roughly.
As a result of being taken by surprise, Su Xian found herself sitting on Wang Jian's lap.
Instinctively, Su Xian attempted to free herself from Wang Jian's hold, but she failed yet again.
"You should know by now there is no use struggling," Wang Jian suddenly whispered in her ears.
Su Xian's efforts weakened after hearing those words as she calmed down. She had somewhat gotten used to this treatment.
Wang Jian smirked upon noticing her low resistance and whispered, "You consider this torture, right? Do you know the reason behind my actions? It is punishment."
Su Xian weakly replied, "…You are really a despicable man for using these useless reasons to harass me sexually."
"Oho. So, you've realized this? My beloved maid is becoming quite intelligent. I've never been happier in my life," Wang Jian said as his hand slid down her shirt and began to caress her midriff.
Su Xian's skin was rather sensitive, and she experienced a rather exciting feeling as Wang Jian's fingers caressed her.
If not for the fact that she hadn't lost her whole reason, Su Xian would have moaned out in joy.
After some moments of fondling her, Wang Jian let her go.
Su Xian was relieved and a tiny bit puzzled. She was aware of a man's desires and knew her own charm. She truly didn't understand how Wang Jian would suddenly regain his control after sexually harassing her so roughly.
It was like he had a certain limit beyond which he wouldn't mess with her.
Wang Jian noticed that it was nearly evening time and stood up, "Follow me. We need to be somewhere today."
Su Xian raised her brows as she failed to understand what Wang Jian wanted to say. However, she tidied her clothing and whispered submissively, "I am ready."
Wang Jian nodded and started leading the way. Outside the mansion, a magnificent chariot was waiting for them.
The chariot was a magnificent sight, crafted from sturdy wood and adorned with gleaming metal accents. It was designed for speed and maneuverability, with two large wheels that were bound with iron bands for added durability. The body of the chariot was open, allowing the charioteer to stand and drive.
Wang Jian and Su Xian stood up on the chariot. With a flick of the reins, the charioteer set the horses in motion, and the chariot began to roll forward, the wheels clattering against the cobbled street.
As he left the mansion on his chariot, Su Xian stood right next to Wang Jian.
"Where do you want to go, milord?" asked the charioteer.
"It is my visiting day," Wang Jian spoke.
Wang Jian's arm wrapped around Su Xian's waist tightly as they headed to their location. Su Xian was a bit resistant to this, but it was in vain.
After three hours, they were finally near their destination.
The location was on the southern outskirts of the town. It was an old district where the once grand buildings and homes had now become tired and worn. The cobbled streets were lined with crumbling brick buildings and overgrown gardens, giving the area a sense of neglect. The air was thick with the scent of damp and decay, and the sounds of the bustling city were muted here, replaced by the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves.
One of the most prominent features of the district was the orphanage, a large Victorian building that stood at the end of a quiet street. The building was imposing, with tall windows, a peaked roof, and a wraparound porch.
The charioteer drove the chariot beneath the porch and stopped. Wang Jian and Su Xian stepped down from the chariot.
Wang Jian ordered the charioteer, "Bring those two bags."
"Yes, milord," responded the charioteer rather obediently.
Wang Jian then turned towards Su Xian and spoke, "Help me distribute the content in those bags."
"What is in those bags?" Su Xian asked curiously.
Wang Jian didn't reply and headed inside the orphanage.
Su Xian's gaze was drawn to the charioteer, and she noticed that he was carrying two bulky sacks over his shoulders. Intrigued, she leaned forward to get a better look and was surprised to see that the sacks were filled to the brim with round, fluffy loaves of white bread.
White bread was expensive for an ordinary family in Zhenguan Region. They could afford it but just barely. However, Wang Jian naturally had no such concern. He had a large reserve stock of white bread in case of shortage in the market.
Su Xian was surprised to see an entire sack filled with these loaves. However, this wasn't the sack that truly astounded her.
The second sack held an even more remarkable surprise as the sound of clashing coins echoed each time the charioteer moved. The sack was filled to the brim with shimmering coins of various denominations, jingling and clattering together in a symphony of wealth.
Upon entering the orphanage, Su Xian came across Wang Jian who was surrounded by a group of energetic and cheerful children. The kids were chattering away, their faces alight with delight as they conversed with Wang Jian.
The scene was one of warmth and happiness, as the children seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their interaction with Wang Jian. Su Xian couldn't help but smile at the sight, feeling a sense of joy just from observing the carefree and joyful atmosphere that Wang Jian had brought to the orphanage.
Very soon, the caretakers of the orphanage arrived as they noticed the commotion. When the caretakers saw it was Wang Jian, their faces lit up instantly.
