A strange, yet warm and comforting feeling started to well in his chest. He was about to awaken his connate abilities. The pain in his limbs was completely gone. His arms and legs were still visibly broken with bruising all over it, but he could not feel any pain.
Yu Sheng did not know what was going on, but he knew to make the best use of this strange situation. He looked mangled and beaten up, but Yu Sheng felt as if he was at the peak of his strength. Power returned back into arms. He extended his middle and index fingers and pierced forward, attempting to sever Ge Cheng's jugular vein.
This was Yu Sheng's last shot at success. He had to end it all now. No matter how much Ge Cheng struggled, he was not able to see Yu Sheng's strike on the soft and fleshy exposed jugular vein.
Ge Cheng had no chance of stopping this attack. It was as if a dam had exploded on his neck.
Ge Cheng stumbled backwards, his hand clasped tightly around his neck as blood spurted out of his jugular vein. He tried to scream, but his voice was hoarse and his throat constricted. His eyes bulged with terror as he looked around frantically, trying to find something to staunch the bleeding. His vitally was quickly deteriorating
Panic set in as he realized that he might not be able to stop the bleeding on his own. He stumbled towards his group of bandits, but slowly realized that the boy he did not think would pose an issue to him was slowly picking off the rest of the bandits.
Even though Yu Sheng was extremely injured, his connate ability, [Absolute Defense] helped him retain his strength. What would some mere mortal men do to him? He had just defeated a cultivator.
*********
The present Yu Sheng stared at this scene in astonishment. How barbaric! Using your own blood to blind and fluster someone. This kind of dirty street fighting tactic was something that the present Yu Sheng enjoyed greatly.
Fighting with honour? Useless! All that matters is you win and live. Dead men tell no tales. He would much rather see someone use underhanded tricks to win a battle.
The 14-year-old Yu Sheng battered to the extent beyond recognition, had finally defeated all the bandits. However, he was actually too late. His fight with Ge Cheng took too long and the bandits had already killed Xiao Hua Li's mother. They wanted to kill Hua Li first to ensure that the Xiao Family would at least be heir-less, but her mother jumped in front of Hua Li to protect her.
The scene of little Hua Li holding her cold, dead mother's corpse, bawling her eyes out could have originally turned a person with a heart made of stone soft, but knowing the way she treated 14 year Yu Sheng 2 years later, present-day Yu Sheng could hardly find any sympathy for her.
After the entire debacle, what remains of the XIao family had strongly believe 14-year-old Yu Sheng to be an actual cultivator, and promised him the fortunes they had prepared for the fake cultivator they had hired. In fact, Xiao Xu Ming had seen how this young boy was looking at his daughter and decided to betroth him to her. Wasn't it good to have such a thick thigh to hug?
********
Present-day Yu Sheng decided that he had seen enough and continued moving forward through the river of time. He did not know how much time he had already spent in the river of time and did not want to waste any more time.
Despite being a temporal sage with an infinite lifespan, he was quite curious about the outside world and can't wait to meet his descendants.
Who wouldn't want to be revered and be a god?
His past memories had completely integrated with his current memories. Now, he could recall and remember those memories as if they were his. Those memories now belong to him and were a part of him. He was now fully the first Ancestor of the Bai Family. Bai Yu Sheng.
Yu Sheng opened his eyes. He fully expected to see Shen Huang but was pleasantly surprised when he saw someone else instead. It was Tang Yao Lan, who was the woman with black hair that was seated on his right.
Yu Sheng knew Yao Lan's personality very well. After all, she and Shen Huang were one of the first few people he met when he arrived at the heavenly immortal realm.
Their relationships all had a rocky start, but their adventures and escapade together for millions of years had turned their rivalry into something much deeper. This was especially true for Yao Lan, who just like him, had discovered the teachings of a Pill Deity and could be considered a pill deity disciple.
Yao Lan came from a renowned family of alchemists in the heavenly immortal realm. She was raised as the young lady of the Tang family and was very reserved in her actions. She was cold to everyone, only giving them a light smile and nod. She was the complete opposite of the fiery and awe-inspiring phoenix, Shen Huang.
No one said anything about her behaviour though, as she had a high enough status to warrant that behaviour. It was Yu Sheng who managed to melt her icy heart and gave her no choice but to fall in love with him.
The Yao Lan in his memories was completely different from what he was seeing though. Before Yu Sheng travelled to the river of time, he was seated on his throne. Right now, Yao Lan was currently sitting between his two legs and on his thigh.
Sensing the movement of the person she was sitting on, Yao Lan turned around and was surprised to see Yu Sheng smirking at her. She was coaxed by Shen Huang to sit on Yu Sheng's lap and only agreed when Shen Huang told her this was her only opportunity to do so.
Who would have thought that after days of not moving, Yu Sheng had only awoken when she sat on him. Embarrassed, she stood up from his lap but let out a small yelp when she felt Yu Sheng pull her waist down and embraced her.
She was usually a cold, calm and aloof woman, but felt shameful and humiliated for releasing such a disgraceful sound, and gave a death stare towards Shen Huang for leading her on.
"What's the rush? That was very cute of you Yao Lan." Yu Sheng jokingly teased Yao Lan.
Indeed, it was rare for him to see Yao Lan act so coquettishly in front of him, and he wanted to savour every single moment of it.
Seeing how jealous Shen Huang looked when Yu Sheng hugged her tightly, Yao Lan forgave Shen Huang for tricking her. Moreover, she was very grateful to her for awakening her from her seclusion.
It had been a long time since Yao Lan shed tears of joy, the last time she did was during the wedding between her and Yu Sheng. But that was a story for another day….
A week ago, when Yao Lan was awoken by Shen Huang.
Yao Lan had plunged her face into Shen Huang's bosom and sobbed silently. Shen Huang who usually liked to tease Yao Lan stroked the back of her head and comforted her silently. She had also just woken up then and was still feeling very emotional after their reunion.
After calming herself down, Yao Lan looked around and saw that there were still two people who were not awake yet. A concerned looked flash on Yao Lan's face and she turned her gaze towards Shen Huang. She was worried that Shen Huang did not want to awaken them.
Shen Huang, sensing Yao Lan's thoughts, immediately defended herself. "Hey! I treat them as my sister-wives too you know!"
Lin Meng Rui and Hu Si Ting. They were both women that Yu Sheng had brought from a lower world to the heavenly immortal realm. They were from a world that Yu Sheng had arrived in when he ascended from the backwater world he was born in.
After gaining a lot of strength and accidentally being transported to the heavenly immortal realm, he left these two women that had helped him a lot on his journey. Their hearts were stolen away by Yu Sheng but were left and abandoned.
However, there was never a single day when he had forgotten about them. Even after falling in love with both Shen Huang and Yao Lan, he had never forgotten about the two women he met in a lower realm.
However, he was unable to break through the spatial barrier between both worlds. This was a Heavenly Dao rule set in place to prevent people from crossing from stronger worlds to weaker worlds, preventing conquering from occurring. This means that he had to become even stronger if he wanted to ever meet them again.
When Yu Sheng was finally a heavenly sovereign and was stronger enough to traverse the barrier that was protecting the weaker world, millions of years had already passed and he was worried that the two women had forgotten about him.
To his elation, the woman had not married ever since he left the world, and had been missing him ever since. Yu Sheng was angry at himself for letting them wait for so long and promised the two ecstatic women that he would bring them up to another world.
After giving their families a talisman that contained a fraction of his powers, he immediately left with Meng Rui and Si Ting.
The two women who originally had extremely high status felt like country bumpkins when they met Shen Huang and Yao Lan for the first time. They were afraid that they would get bullied by them for stealing away their husband's attention but were pleasantly surprised to see Yao Lan wholeheartedly welcome them.
Yao Lan's cold and aloof behaviour may seem scary to some, but to Meng Rui and Si Ting, Yao Lan's typical smile and nod made them feel at ease. Seeing how they were not afraid of her, Yao Lan did not mistreat them.
Shen Huang on the other hand seemed very scary to Meng Rui and Si Ting. They saw Shen Huang as a fiery empress that would kill them if they looked at her wrongly. Their fears were not unfounded though, as Shen Huang was slightly jealous that her husband had found lovers.
However, seeing how gently Yu Sheng treated these women and also how they had met him earlier than her, she decided to give them a chance to prove themselves worthy of being titled concubines.
The two women adamantly refused to be titled consort and wanted to settle under the title of a concubine, for fear of offending even the kind Yao Lan, and most importantly Shen Huang.
Yao Lan and Shen Huang did not really mind them taking on the title of divine consort, but respected their wishes regardless.
With Shen Huang as the divine empress, Yao Lan as the divine consort, and Meng Rui and Si Ting as divine concubines, they were all treated as equals. Everyone could see how well Shen Huang and Yao Lan were treating the concubines, even going as far as considering them sister wives.
Yao Lan was broken away from her reminiscences when she saw a worried look on Shen Huang's face.
"Compared to us, Sister Lin and Hu do not have high cultivation… They are trying their hardest to break through to replenish their lifespan.." Shen Huang lamented.
