Dragons….
They're everywhere…
They come in all shapes and sizes. Most people, when they think about us they conjure up a large chaotic winged fire breathing reptile or the devil aka the prince of hell according to my faith… and my grand ma.
But there are more to dragons than that … yes, they can be evil or good but we are the universal symbols of wisdom, good luck, power and the realms beyond.
Hi, I'm Angeline Richmen Ozigi… and you can guess from my intro that I'm a big dragon nerd!
I can't help it… I'm also interested in other Greek and Asian mythologies but of all the creatures to grace the surface of the earth there's none as fierce nor majestic as dragons.
They can soar to the highest of heavens, as they played with the phoenixes; dive into the deepest oceans; control the 7 elements: fire, water, earth, air, wood, metal and spirit; cloud/lightening breathers; and shapeshift… before their disappearance.
It all started long ago, in ancient China, when gods and mortals still lived in tandem. Nu Wa, wife of Fu Xi, the goddess of creation created four dragons to rule over the Four Seas of the Four Points all under the supreme guidance of Long Wang, the Dragon King.
Now not many books record this but all dragons are said to possess a flaming pearl in their hearts, claws or chins. Legend has it that each one was unique; filled with the dragons' powers – spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, immortality and thunder (or moon, depending on the kind of dragon) but man being man, in his lust for immortality, became greedy and began to kill dragons. So, for that's how the cold war between man and dragons enthused. Chaos reigned as demons and gods got caught in the fray. The demons empowered the humans in exchange of the pearls.
At the final battle, the dragons and their allies were caught in a death trap and were surrounded on all sides by the hungry humans and demons. All hope was lost when suddenly a special fire fell from the heavens, landing on one third of the enemy, paving way for the dragons to escape. From the ashes rose a large purple dragon and she began to turn the tide for the dragons till from nowhere her pearl got pierced by an arrow causing to explode into a large mist, just as the Jade Emperor cleansed the land of evil. For years, her friends and demons searched for her after a monk revealed she would be reborned to be the greatest of all time.
And that girl's name was Wen Shi…
